Every year you see a caption on Instagram, and people saying after New Years, saying "new year, new me!" But listen, you can't say that, without changing some of your everyday routine and your mentality. Depending on what your new year resolution is, you may or may not follow through with it.

Here are some tips for the common New Year resolutions:

1. For the friend who texts their ex or a boy, she shouldn't be talking to when drunk: make a friend change the name of your ex on your phone, or even just delete their number. This way, there will be no more drunk mistakes.

2. "I want to work out more!": try enrolling in a workout class that looks fun, and you know you'll have time for. You can end up getting into a routine and making friends with the people in your workout class. This will make you want to go even more, because hey, you have someone to complain to, but also to motivate you.

3. For when you say, you want to eat healthier: buy healthy snacks. In my experience, when you crave something sweet, and you only have yogurt to eat, then that's what you end up eating. And never, ever, ever, go grocery shopping hungry.

4. To focus more on your studies and not go out as much: set one night to go out and drink with your friends. Use the remaining time you have on your weekend, to work on some practice problems or read a chapter in your textbook.

5. To get boost your GPA: go into office hours, cut down on other activities or workload, and find your favorite study space that you get your homework and studying done the best.

6. Learn a new skill or hobby: set aside a certain amount of time during your day to complete your new skill or hobby you want to learn about. Set a reminder on your phone to make sure you do it, and if you end up having an appointment or something else comes up during your skill or hobby time, think ahead, and set another time that day.

7. Advance in your career: do something that will make you stand out in your job, find a new job, or search for an internship. If you're a college student, utilize your resources for your major, use your connections, and apply, apply, apply!

8. To save money: use money-saving apps, look at your financial statements and see what you're spending the most money on and focus on cutting down on it. Do you really need the brand name cereal? Probably not.

For any of these resolutions, and many others, it will take more energy and effort, but it's worth it after all. If you get organized and focus on your resolution, it is achievable, but only if you want it badly enough. It may take changing up your routine a little by cutting down on your time with friends or telling yourself to run a little bit longer this time to reach a new goal. Staying organized and having a plan is a key to obtaining your New Year's resolution. Happy New Year and let the resolutions be forever in your favor.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
