It all happens: we have our crappy days. You had a rough day at work, people won't stop blowing up your phone and you just feel off. A kid can't catch a break around here! You go to bed, hoping for a better day tomorrow, but you just can't seem to shake your funk. What do you do? You feel stuck! And then, what seems like a miracle occurs.
You receive a text message from someone that says, "I just want to let you know you are special" or "Hey! Thinking about you! I hope you are doing OK. You are great." Um, OK? Is this a sign from someone? Or is this person just that amazing? That one text simply brightens your spirit. You are shown love, whether it was through a phone or not. But someone cares about you. Your saving grace.
This happened to me this weekend. I got a text from someone on a rough day. It was right as I hopped in bed and started thinking about my day, and bam. I got a text. How did they know I needed to hear those words? How did they know I was in a funk and needed this? It's powerful. I asked my friend. He said they had an "urge" to text me. We have always connected on a spiritual level, so he told me that God told him I needed a friend that night. He came as my light, and support for the night. It simply gives me the chills. Thank you, my dear friend.
After this experience, and the impact it had on me, I am asking you to not deny that urge to text or talk to someone. You never know, they may be desperately crying for help and you may be their light in a dark tunnel.
Perhaps you get an urge to text someone that you ended things on a bad note with, but you feel as though you can't text them because things are rocky. I am in this situation too. I am guilty of resisting the nudge. And guess what? I don't like it one bit. Please. Reach out to someone that you haven't talked to in years or feel the need. It will be worth it.
My friend was telling me that his biggest challenge is to resist the urge to he gets with strangers. You may experience this too sometimes. You feel a strong urge to tell someone you like their outfit, or that they have a nice smile, but we stop! We hesitate because society has made it so this is "weird" to do. Oh? It's strange to be kind, compliment someone and show them the love that everyone deserves? Hm. This is news to me!
We are all put on this Earth for a reason. For some it's to be a doctor, or a teacher, or maybe a coach. But we all have the ability of to be a listener, a shoulder to lean on, and most importantly, to be a friend.
Remember, you are loved and there is always someone thinking about you, even when you think there isn't.
