"New year, new me" is the biggest lie ever told. Billions of people worldwide make resolutions every year, but for most, they never work out. It leaves people waiting until the next year to start up the same old resolution again that goes on to live in an unending cycle.
Stop smoking? Start exercising? Eat healthier? More work/life balance?
These all sound good on the surface, but typically a resolution is based on what you think you should be doing, rather than what you really want to be doing. Start living how you want to live and what will make you happy instead of fitting into society's standards.
A resolution is just a goal. However, people set their goals way too high. It's easy to start with baby steps or smaller goals to eventually reach you to that big goal. If you want to lose weight then start with drinking water regularly, eating healthier foods and making it to the gym on a daily basis, but you don't have to do it all at the same time because that is how it fails.
Resolutions also don't work because of a lack of motivation. People will talk and talk about doing this and that and this is going to be their year, but after the first week they're on to being the same way they were previously.
New Year's resolutions aren't necessary. Just focus on living a full life that makes you happy. Live everyday with a purpose and make sure it counts because life is short.
