8 Times That Michel Gerard Was Literally You At Work

If you're out on the road, feeling lonely, and so cold...

OK, I know I am late in the game; according to the "Gilmore Girls" Wikipedia page, the last on-air episode aired on May 15, 2007. I'm almost done with season 6, and felt it was only right to take a moment of appreciation for the one and only truly unique and great character...

Drumroll, please... Michel Gerard!

Sure, he isn't the best employee, but he's the most relatable! I would have never considered Michel an icon, but every day at work I get a little more compassionate for Michel, because I too have a hard time being happy every single day. There are countless ways that I can relate to Michel, but I've compiled it down to a short list that I'm sure all of us can relate to.

1. When people ask you for things outside your job description.

Some days, I like to go above and beyond what is asked for me. Other days, I have to remind myself that I need this job more than they need me.

2. When your least favorite coworker works the same shift with you almost every day...

There's awkwardness, slight tension, and a constant reminder that if you said this the probability of you losing your job is high.

3. So you compromise in the best way you know how.

But of course, you still talk to them nicely cause passive aggressiveness at work is the number one skill on your resume.

4. When the most difficult customer in the world finally leaves.

Never, in a million years would I consider saying this... out loud at least.

5. When you go to a work outing and immediately regret it...

Though you remember the places the group goes, this way you can have some recommendations for the squad.

6. But also get super upset when your coworkers have a party and don't invite you.

Even if it's for an abnormal reason, the invite is completely appreciated and expected.

7. When you forget you don't have as much power as you think you do.

8. But at the end of the day, you know you try your hardest for your work family.

Also, if my current employer is reading this, please don't fire me, I have bills to pay.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
