This October at the WCFF (Wildlife Conservation Film Festival) in New York, this short animation -https://vimeo.com/187564697 - was shown.
The video shows a number of endangered animals singing, “I Dreamed a Dream,” which is from the critically acclaimed musical, “Les Miserable.”
Seeing these animals sing about how their dreams for the future where forcefully torn from them by illegal poachers, is one of the most heart wrenching things I have ever seen.
I say that with the knowledge that though this video is a dramatization, these atrocities are still actually presently happening around the world.
The sad part is actually some of the animals depicted in the video are actually fair game. Countries like Norway, Iceland, and Japan actively participate, and endangered species like the fin whale, sperm whale, and sei whale are still killed and harvested for their meat despite, their endangered statues.
The point of the video becomes evident at the end, to not let the dream go extinct. It is important for us as inhabitants of the earth to maintain and nurture it. We all have a responsibility to help care for nature.
