Don't Let a Heartbreak Hold You Back

Sometimes we lose ourselves when we get dumped but it's not the end of the world, I promise.

In the famous words of Miss Aibileen, "You is kind. You is smart. You is important."

Yes you may feel like everything important in your life is gone at the moment and that you will never go on the same, and in a sense, you are totally right. Something important to you was taken away, but it isn't what matters most in your life either.

Life is about learning. Am I right? About self-discovery and finding your OWN way.

"You don't need no man!"

It can be very difficult for us girls to go on in life without knowing who we are. I have found myself as a person at a young age but I constantly battle with what I am doing in life and whether or not I truly have been blessed with finding my actual self. But I really think I did.

Life will throw challenges at you and test who you are as a person and It makes you question everything, but I think that's the best part.

Take each and every heartbreak as if it were a test, a test to your life, and whether you passed it or failed it take the time to look back and reflect on what things you did wrong and right. What made you feel good and what you learned throughout the relationship. Trust me. You learn a lot.

Things might seem hard right now but its time to go find the things in life that make you the happiest and do more of that. I'll leave you with four simple tips of advice.

1. Find what you are really passionate about and find more hobbies

I'm serious, finding hobbies is the best way to keep you busy and figure out what you really enjoy out of life. We have been handed this amazing world and there are so many things to discover, you just have more time to do it now.

2. Be emotional

Just because I am basically telling you to get off your sorry butt and do something doesn't mean it isn't okay to be sad or angry. If you feel like crying then cry girl. You will feel better if you let your emotions free when you feel it rather than containing it.

3. Smile lots and laugh hard

Enough said.

4. Don't forget who you are

We all have roots and those are the core of who we are so do not forget this. Let your family and friends remind you of the wonderful things you have going on in your life and continue doing them, because wow...you are truly amazing.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
