A Step-By-Step Guide To Choosing Attire

Have you ever had those moments were you sleep late, wake up late, get ready in a hurry and ... wait, what the heck am I going to wear?! Oh this is bad...this is SOOO bad! Ugh! Why?! Why?! Why?! Then you just throw something on because you have to leave the house and just NEED clothes to wear? Yeah, let's talk about that. Dressing up everyday is like an art. In fact, it is an art in my oppinion. You take the main piece and depending on the mood, pick a color that suits for that. After choosing the color, then you decide what other small pieces compliment the main pieces and the colors you have selected and voila! There you have it. A masterpiece. Let me walk you through an easy step-by-step process of dressing up each day.

1. Decide the day before.

There's nothing less stressful than this. When you think about this you need to consider some factors. What will the weather be like? Cold, warm, or hot? What's the occasion? This might seem like a "not such a big deal situatio,n" but you'll be thankful when you look great the next morning and find that what you are wearing is complimenting whatever the day brings. Try it out!

2. What are you dressing for?

This goes back to step one, but if I haven't emphasized it enough here it is. You need to choose clothes tailored to suit whatever occasion you have planned for that day. You cannot wear a gown to a picnic and you definitely can't wear a business suit to a baby shower, so definitely consider this one of your top priorities! It's always good to dress accordingly rather than "barely making it" attire.

3. Start from the bottom.

When I dress everyday, I ALWAYS start from the bottom. Again, this depends on the context of the situation (refer back to step one and two). As soon as you pick something that works for the occasion and weather, you are all set!...Well, semi-ready. You need a top! On the other hand though, if you're wearing a dress you can skip steps three and four.

4. Work your way up.

After you have chosen your pant or skirt, you can finally finally decide on a top! Ladies and gentlemen, you might think that just because you've figured out the bottom you're somehow all set, but that is not true. The top is just as important! If you are wearing solid bottoms you have a bit more flexibility because solids always match patterns. On the flip side, if you're wearing patterned bottoms, you definitely need to wear a solid top. The only exception for this would be wearing a top that matches the print IDENTICAL to your bottom.

5. Play with what you got.

This part is one of my favorite parts because I can really "play" with what I'm working with. In other words, this is the accessorize if you want stage. By accessorizing, I mean you can throw in some jewelry (just enough and not too much), a beanie, a purse, a hat, a watch, etc. There is SO MUCH you could do with this!

Last Words...

As I always say, creating an outfit is creating a piece of art. When you accessorize what you wear, this could be the difference between taking your outfit up 100 notches or sticking to the same basic level. I'll show you how to do this in my next article. Get ready gentlemen! Ladies, you'll be right after!

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
