Please, just care about each other, because at this rate there's not much else we can do.

I am genuinely at a loss for words these days. With everything going on in the world, I really don’t know what to say. But, that doesn’t mean the same for others. As an active social media user, I am exposed to thousands of posts daily, ranging from what Kim Kardashian had for breakfast that morning to modern day slavery in Libya. While social media is extremely entertaining and useful for most users, others use it as a platform for discrimination, cyber-bullying, and outright hatred. However, this post isn’t about the pros and cons of social media (although it’s not a bad article idea, stay tuned) it’s about the lack of human kindness in this world.

Over the summer, I stumbled upon an article from The Huffington Post entitled, "I Don't Know How To Explain To You That You Should Care About Other People" and I was intrigued right away. The title stuck out to me mainly, and in fact, I didn’t read the article for another few weeks after discovering it because the title alone had me thinking for a while. The article basically explains the authors pure disbelief from people and their lack of human decency for others, especially their words on social media and political stances. When I finally had the chance to sit down and read the short, but perfectly worded article, I couldn’t help agree with every single thing the author said. It comes down to straight up selfishness of others. The thought that someone has to pay an extra 4.3% on a fast food order in order for the person making it to be able to feed their family repulses another individual is the basis for this problem. There are millions of people in this country who think they are entitled to more than others based on their ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, political background, and the list goes on and on.

Don’t get me wrong, at the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think it’s important to realize that if the actions or beliefs of another person are not physically or mentally hurting you, someone else, or themselves, then there is no reason to discriminate against them for it. There is absolutely no reason for racism, homophobia, sexism, misogyny, xenophobia, etc. to exist in this country still. All of that is history and in the past and that is exactly where it needs to stay. When people are so quick to judge others and be prejudice towards others it really baffles me.

I honestly do not know how to explain to you that you should care about other people.

I don’t know how to make someone empathetic towards another human being, despite it being a basic human emotion. People are just so close-minded these days and I honestly think it’s disgraceful that people go out of their way to make others feel bad about themselves for literally nothing. Stop fueling the fire that is the Trump Administration. Stop supporting tax cuts, and new healthcare bills, and “locker room talk”, and destroying DACA, and outright hatred and evil. Instead, be a decent human being and care about each other. Care about the millions of lives that are going to affected by all of this hatred from the evil orange monster in D.C. Care about the families that are going to be split up, the children that are going to be sent “back” to countries they’ve never even been to because their parents risked their lives in hopes of a new and better one. Please, just care about each other, because at this rate there’s not much else we can do.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
