Its the beginning of the fall semester and drop add has not even begun. Some may be seconding guessing the classes you registered for in your spring semester. You are asking your self..."Was this class what I was suppose to take" "Is my professor the best he/she can be" "Will this push me in the right direction towards major". It's okay to question these things. I know I did. I signed up for a decent amount of classes, but was not 100% about this one course I was taking. I walked in to this Monday/ Wednesday class from 2:00 -3:15 and sat down with an open mind and notebook. Preparing ahead of time for the class, I researched my professor and the course material. Reading the syllabus, I became a little weary about what was on it. In a previous semester, I had the same professor so I was confident in his ability to catch my attention during class. The first day is always just the general information. Due dates, office hours, and contact information is all I was hearing. He starting talking about this huge textbook we had to get and the multiple readings/discussion. I was already beginning to feel myself drown in the amount of readings that were expected for this course. All I could think to myself was, right after this I am running to my advisor and dropping this class. Meeting with him, we talked about class the and the expectations. He recommended I give the class a real shot. Wednesday came around and I was ready to go.
Moral of the story is sitting through that class that I thought was going to take forever, actually turned out to be exactly what I needed. I was eager to jump ship from this class that 'seemed' boring but when I actually sat through this class I realized, this is what I was meant to hear. It finally came to me that, you really can't judge a book by its cover. People (including myself) always make assumptions about people, places, ideas. But if we took the time to understand and learn about different things, we wouldn't be so quick to judge. Its important to take the time to recogonize something that has been put into your life for a reason. You may not think it is important now but it will be down the road.
