I Don't Have A Job In College, But I'm Still Allowed To Be Stressed

There are more things to stress about than money.

I Don't Have A Job In College, But I'm Still Allowed To Be Stressed

It is not fair to judge anybody who doesn't work in college and say that because I don't work I can't worry about college stress, there are more things in life to worry about than money and the stress of college. Yes, I am in college and currently unemployed, but I should not feel guilty or ashamed of it because my parents have the ability to help provide for me in college. Don't be so closed minded and judgey to people who don't work in college because you have no idea their backstory and why they don't have to, want to, or need to. We don't owe you an explanation for it. My good works come from the heart, not because I got paid for it.

1. No, my stress does not stem from money, but there are other things going on in peoples lives that they are stressed about.

Don't be so closed minded and say that people who don't work don't stress about money. You're right, at this point in my life I don't have to worry about money, but I have school stress to worry about and things outside of school called a life. You have no idea what goes on in peoples lives and the things that back home that they are worried about.

2. There is more going on in my life than going to class.

Some people get scholarships and financial aid to where their school is paid for so they have a little extra spending money. I'd rather spend my free time doing something other than waitressing for three nights a week. People volunteer and have other school activities they have going on.

3. Don't feel guilty for shopping and not have a job.

You can't tell me that because you work and go to school and have to pay your own way you don't also shop every now and then. It's not like when I go shopping I'm shopping on 5th Avenue where all the high-end stores are. I only buy things when they are on sale because I learned how to be frugal like my mom.

4. Just because I don't work doesn't mean I don't have any time or money management.

Like I said before, people have other stuff going on besides just school so to say that because I don't work I don't have time management is completely untrue. People can easily find productive things to do with their time and not work. And as for having no money management, just because I am not working in college doesn't mean that I haven't had to work for things in my life before or that because my parents help provide for me I have more respect for money management because I am eternally grateful for them.

5. If your major "isn't as hard" as others who are working you should not feel guilty for not working.

Whether peoples majors are difficult or not, that should not be an indication of whether or not they need to work. People all have different levels of stress and work they can handle at a time. We don't have a right to judge people on whether they have a hard major or an "easier" major, it is solely up to what the student can handle and that should be more than good enough.

6. Eating out every once in a while isn't a crime.

I am not going to Ruth's Chris and having a steak dinner with a bottle of wine and three sides, I am going to Moe's, or sushi that is 12 dollars for all you can eat lunch. People shouldn't just assume that we are spending our money shopping or eating out in the first place because no one has any idea what we spend our money on.

7. No, I don't feel bad one bit.

I don't feel bad that my parents busted their ass so that they could get to this point in their life to provide for me through college. I am more humble because of it and want to be more like them when I grow up. My parents worked hard so that I didn't have to pay or work as much in college, so don't judge us for that.

8. Because I don't work doesn't mean I am spoiled.

For those of you who think that because I don't work in college I am spoiled, well news flash, you are just as spoiled as I am. You say all these things like spending my parents' money eating out, or at Sephora, when you can't tell me that every now and then you do the same. You can't tell me that you're not in a sorority which is pretty damn expensive and say that we are spoiled. Anyone who gets the chance and opportunity to go to college is spoiled because there are so many people who bust their ass to go and don't get in, or don't get the scholarships they need.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

The holiday season is full of stress, debt, and forced conversation. While we rush through the month of December, it's important to take a step back and enjoy the moments before they're gone. Most families love to watch Christmas movies, but these beloved films provide more than entertainment. Here are 10 life lessons that I've learned from the holiday classics we watch every year.

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
