The semester is finally over. And I know you're absolutely exhausted. You're probably questioning a lot of different things right now. Some are looking at their time left and grimacing at the though of a year and a half more left in school.
I understand. You want to get out there and finally start living your life and your dreams. Trust me, as a theatre and film student, I feel exactly the same way. We feel like we are running out of time. We don't want to miss job opportunities. We want to get started doing the things we love right now. We do not want to wait. I completely understand.
But you cannot give it all up now. I may not know how much time you have left in school, but I am telling you that you have your whole life ahead of you. I know that our time here is limited, but live your life in the now and stick it out.
I want to start embarking on developing my career and I always have to keep that in mind, so I will work on the little things while I am still in school. Prepare now, and then by the time you graduate and get your degree, you will be prepared. Now we can be prepared for everything in life, but being in control of everything that we can exercise control over is important.
These years of waiting will prepare you for later in life when you are finding ways to do what you love even though you may not be able to do it to the full capacity that you had imagined. And remember, right now, you have people surrounding you who love and support you. You may not always have that. Take advantage of the opportunities you are given right now, and the ones that you are dreaming of will come to you later. It may take a long while, but if you truly keep at it, continually working towards it, and finding a way, you will end up happier than if you decided to quit or take a break now. Just know that.
And who knows what may happen in these next years? So much can change. Mayhaps, an opportunity will present itself to you because you are here, in the right place at the right time. Mayhaps you meet that person who can be your friend and partner in your careers. Who knows what may happen? But you will not know if you leave now. So stay and be your best you that you can be. Ultimately, it is up to you.
