Don't Drink And Drive

Poem on drinking and driving.

I left the house with promises of wearing my seatbelt and making good decisions,
but promises aren't always kept.

I drove to the library, and I dug into the endless piles of work i needed
to finish up before classes the next day.

When I was nearly done with my essay, a bright eyed boy with a jawline
by God approached me and offered to take me to a party.

At first, I said no, but he kept promising me that the party was
"lowkey" and "wouldn't last long anyway." So I said yes.

As we arrived, I began to question my decision immediately;
there were too many people in too tight of a space drinking too much.

He drove so I was stuck there in that environment; I had a drink to
calm my nerves, but one led to two- and so forth.

Around 2:00 in the morning, we left the house-
he was driving.

The music in his truck was so loud I couldn't hear anything else,
and we were laughing so hard we couldn't breath.

We parked in a field and looked at the stars for a while-
trying to sober me up before taking me to my car.

He left me with a kiss on the cheek and a
promise to call me in the morning.

I cranked my car and pulled out of the spot.

My mouth still tasted like the whiskey,
and my mind was clouded with false bravado.

Going around a sharp curve,
I started to drift into the other lane.

I saw blinding headlights, but I wasn't quick enough.

My ears were filled with screams of a thousand
banshees notifying me of my soon departure from reality.

I awoke to the consistent sound of beeping, but when I opened my eyes,
there was nothing; my vision ceased to operate.

In my confusion, I assumed it was a dream-
it wasn't.

Countless tears fell from my handicapped eyes that day,
but I learned to accept my new way of life.

My mother was disappointed in me for my actions,
but the truth is that I'm still disappointed in me.

I put myself in that situation.

It's a miracle I didn't kill someone that night-
let alone myself.

And to think, it all started with a broken promise

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).
