After you read this headline you may freak out and think "I have to do my homework! She's crazy". Don't worry. Doing homework is important, especially doing it in a timely manner. But let's be real here, I'm sure we are all familiar with the art of procrastination. I call it an art because that's what it really is. We unconsciously find way to not do the things we have to do without realizing we are not doing that thing we have to do. Make sense? While some people find that they do their best work under pressure, (for example: doing the assignment then night it is due) others need the entire two weeks that is given as the deadline. I kind of fall in the middle of that spectrum. If you find yourself overwhelmed by the amount of work you need to do, here are some things you could do to take a break from the homework that is stressing you out.
Go to a bookstore and pick a random book to read.
I remember when I used to read for fun back in high school. Now I find that there is so much assigned reading that I never read for myself anymore. Finding a good book or re-reading a favorite book is something you could do to take a break.
Start a new Netflix show.
In my Netflix settings, I will get notifications occasionally telling me about shows that it recommends to me based on what I've watched. Watching shows to me is so relaxing because I get lost in whatever world the show takes place in is.
Go for a walk.
While this is also good exercise, it will help clear your mind. Take advantage of this nice spring weather and spend some time with mother nature.
Watch YouTube videos.
The videos that YouTube provides are literally infinite. You could watch a video on how to make dreads even if you have no intention of making dreads, or you could watch a youtube video on top things to do when you're bored. There are literally so many options of videos.
Clean your room (or rearrange it).
Spring is here and the best way to be stressful in my opinion is to have a clean room! I get so stressed out when I get home from a long day of school and work and I come home to a messy room, I end up spending more time cleaning my room than doing homework which leads to more stress. By having your room already organized, it will also keep your mind organized.
Take a siesta.
You can never go wrong with a nap. Take a quick power nap and I guarantee you'll feel more motivated afterward. Just make sure you dot accidentally sleep until the next day (been there done that)!
Hangout with friends.
Chances are, maybe your friend is also stressed or needs a break from school. Get together, grab some coffee, pizza, whatever and just talk it all out. This usually makes me feel a lot better once I see that I am not alone.
