We Don't Deserve Our Dogs

And why we seriously need to thank man's best friend.

Imagine this: one day, your parents finally say to you as a child, "We're going to go pick out a dog." You're rushing with excitement and the endless possibilities of what kind you will take home that day. You finally get to the farm where you're going to pick out your forever friend and you see the tiniest little dog sitting and playing with his brothers and sisters. You knew from that moment that that dog was going to be your best friend. You two do everything together from late night movie cuddles to having him walk you to your bus stop in the mornings. You see so much of his goofy innocence that you can't help but feel happy that he's in your life. After countless walks and hundreds of chewed through toys, you look at how your dog looks at you. No matter what you say, do, act or think, your dog will not judge you or think differently of you. He loves you and that's why we need to thank our lucky stars for dogs. We need to thank them for three reasons:

They love you unconditionally...

This sounds contradictory considering that we want to feel loved unconditionally. But with dogs, it never ends. They will continually love us until the day they can no longer be with us. That's a love that we as humans don't fully acknowledge a lot and that's okay, because dogs don't expect gratification or gifts for loving us. They just do. Whenever your upset with the world or furious over your ex, your dog is waiting right there to cuddle your thoughts away or play with you till your anger is relieved. Their innocent mindset will always side with you and always will be there for you.

Their goofy antics...

I have eight dogs of my own, and I have one dog that will chase you around a chair for hours if you wanted and won't stop. He'll bark and whine until he finally catches you and greets you with 1,000 kisses, like it's been over a year since he's seen you. Dogs always want to play and do the most craziest things from singing along with you to your favorite songs or running through water spouting from a hose. They're the goofiest animals who just want to have as much fun with their favorite human as much as they can. I've always seen videos of dogs just rolling around on the ground in piles of leaves or just in the grass waiting to pounce on their playful friend. They have such a positive outlook on life and enjoy the simple things that they're given. Whenever you have a night that you just wanna have fun, you can always count on your dog to be waiting at the door with a wagging tail and a comical grin ready to go on playful adventures.

They'll never leave you alone...

I'm sure many of you dig your alone time, but whenever the world feels like it's crashing down and you have no one to confide in, your dog is there. When you need someone to go swimming with you or give you a hug, your dog is there. Your dog will go on random car rides with you to endless places and enjoy the wind just blowing his face.

Literally.

Dogs will never leave you behind and make you feel like you have nobody. They're always there to whisper, "Hey you have somebody!" They can't talk or pat you on the back but they'll show how they can be with you. Even on the loneliest of days, your dog can lift your spirits with a sloppy kiss. All in all, dogs are your forever friend and alone you shall never be.

When you get back after a long day at work or school, make sure you go up and thank your dog. Thank him or her for all of the times they've been by your side. Thank them for the endless loves, cuddles and late night movie dates. Thank them for being your best friend whenever you needed someone to listen to you vent. Dogs are only here for a short while, and what they bring to table holds an endless memory in our hearts. Always appreciate the love they've brought to you because you never know when they have to leave.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.
