Things, things, get more things. There's a deal! You have to buy it. If you don't, you won't be happy. Buy this and everyone will love you. Get this product and you will be successful.
"Shop til you drop" as the old saying goes; except this time I'm not buying it. I refuse to go out on Black Friday. I will not take part in something that celebrates materialism. Don't get me wrong, I love a good deal, but to me, there is more to the madness of Black Friday than just getting a good deal.
Our culture is fueled by materialism and injects it into our veins. You can't look anywhere nowadays without being bombarded with messages from big chain stores to buy this or buy that. It's on our billboards, magazines, televisions, phones and internet. It's sickening and I despise it all.
I know, I know, "it's Christmas! People are just buying gifts!" Right because nothing says Christmas like crowds of people mowing down storefronts like herds of cattle or people getting into physical altercations over getting the last Mac Book. That's Christmas alright!
It's not that I'm upset at people for going shopping or buying gifts for their loved ones. It's the principle of Black Friday that I do not stand for. Don't you find it ironic that the first day of the Christmas season is kicked off by people running around pushing anyone in their way over, taking whatever they can off of shelves?
People have died because of crazed shoppers stomping into storefronts like animals. People have died! If you don't believe me then watch this video.
Until our society makes some major changes I will continue to not go out on Black Friday. And please for those of you who are going out this Black Friday, look out for those store owners, clerks and anyone else who may be in fatal trouble. Unfortunately, Black Friday has and could turn into a life or death situation for those people, so please lets at least put an end to that.
