In today's society being the crazy girlfriend or the crazy ex is glamorized. Girls take pride in going to the extreme to make sure that her man is hers and only hers. On social media, we constantly see memes and post about girls being overly possessive over their boyfriends. We're always reading about that ex who was too hurt over her boyfriend. Social media brain washes us into thinking that being the "crazy girlfriend" is cute, but it is not cute at all. Girls are taking it way too far.
Last Tuesday, Kendra Childs a 19 year old mother was shot and killed in her apartment. Although Houston police claim that they don't know who did it, Twitter users all over the nation have a pretty good guess. Twitter users suspect that Childs was killed by her boyfriends ex-girlfriend, who goes by the name @linglingbaby on twitter. She can be seen on twitter taking pictures in front of a black Camaro, the same car the that the suspect of the shooting is said to be seen in. Also if you scroll through her twitter account you will see death threats made towards Childs.
When did society get to a point where someone thinks its acceptable to kill another woman, because her ex boyfriend no longer wants her. How long will we keep thinking that being crazy is cute and desirable. Women are constantly losing their minds over guys that don't think twice about them. Society has brainwashed us into thinking that no matter what we have we will never be fully successful unless we have a man by our side, because no one wants to be lonely. Social media is always telling guys that if a woman isn't crazy for him then she doesn't love him. Well what happens when she goes a little too crazy?
Society as a whole needs to stop allowing women to think that it's okay to put men on such a high pedestal, that they will do absolutely anything for them. Women nowadays are so head over heels for guys that they lose sight of who they really are. They only focus on keeping their man because they don't want to feel lonely. Being the crazy girl is all fun and games until someone gets seriously hurt. Women need to grow up, get over any hurt that they're still holding onto from a past relationship, and focus on being the best version of themselves that they can be.
