There's a ton of misinformation on the internet. Especially when considering the fact that most media want to use astrology as clickbait, and so the majority of people consider astrology to be untrue or silly because of well... the untrue information that they hear. So a lot of people, including me for a long time, had a lot of stereotypes in mind. There's always the misconception that all Geminis are scheming and love gossip, or how cancers do nothing but cry all day about their trauma. These things, while true to an extent, vary from person to person and chart to chart.

Your sun sign isn't your only sign.

Most people are only aware of their sun sign, and they don't really believe in astrology because their sun sign doesn't fit them. And while it's perfectly fine to not believe in astrology, your sun sign actually doesn't have that much of an impact on your entire natal chart. In astrology, the way you get your sun sign is to look at where the sun's position was in the sky. A natal chart is a chart of all of the plants, as well as stars and different aspects' position in the sky at the time when you're born. A natal chart can be considered to be a map of that person's life, since it is a snapshot of what the planets looked like the minute you were born. The sky is divided up into sections where the twelve constellations are, since the constellations split up the sky pretty evenly. So when someone says "I'm a Cancer!" in the west, they're usually referring to their sun sign, meaning that the sun was behind the Cancer constellation in the sky at the time they were born.

Most people only know about their sun sign, but in astrology, there are many other planets and many other bigger signs that are important in defining 'who you are'. The 'Big Three' are your sun sign, your moon sign, and your rising sign. Your moon sign is where the moon was when you were born, and it shows the way you exist internally and your rising sign is which constellation your eastern horizon line was when you were born. In modern times, the West considers your sun sign to be the most important or the biggest part of 'you' in the Big Three, but it's a common misconception. The rising sign was historically considered to be someone's most important aspect, because it is specific to the minute you were born. Whereas the moon and sun take days or months respectively to cycle through the signs, the horizon line changes so fast that it is considered as the sign that truly defines you.

So if you're unhappy about your sun sign and you don't think that it really fits you. take a look at your moon and rising sign too. And if you want to find your entire natal chart, there are many free resources online such as cafeastrology.com where they'll calculate everything for you.

If you don't like your signs, the best thing to do is to research them further.

So, perhaps you've already got your natal chart...but you still don't like what you see there. Maybe the descriptions on the website where you got your natal chart or the things you're reading aren't resonating. Despite what you may believe about the signs due to popular opinion and misconception, one sign is not better than any other. If you got a sign like Scorpio which is connected to all sorts of darkness, don't fret. An extrovert, or a social person can still be a Scorpio. This is why i recommend doing research. There are tons of credible books about astrology that you can buy and read, for example, The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need by Joanna Woolfold is one of the best astrology books you can buy for beginners. Astrology For The Soul by Jan Spiller, as well as Parker's Astrology: The Essential Guide to Using Astrology in Your Daily Life by Derek Parker are also reputable sources. Most of the information you'll find online are made to placate the reader or gain more views on social media, or just plain misinformation. These books contain infromation from professional astrologers, or from people who have studied astrology for decades. Think of it like a culture, there's widely believed principles that come with astrology. When it comes to the natal chart, there are so many more complicated, science-like aspects to analyzing a natal chart.

Here are a couple of helpful tips to figure out if you're getting misinformation.

If it's on Twitter, I'd be especially careful. Even people who have big followings might not actually be well researched or well established astrologist. If they only do tweets and don't do readings at all for people then that's already a huge red flag/ If they work with celebrities, it's a give or take but given the amount of money that they are probably getting from clients, they could be the real deal. Usually astrologists that are the real deal are a part of the community, thus their mutual will speak well of them as well as having accurate information and readings. Bad business practices are a no-go. If you're getting your information from a website or app, you should probably do some research on the app and the website to see if it's run by a company or astrologists. For example, a lot of people use Co-Star because of it's aesthetics but it's not actually the best app out there for people. Many astrologists that I know who are professionals and read tarot or astrology do not recommend this app at all. If you need an app that tells you about your natal chart and your forecast, I would really recommend Time Nomad (although you'll have to learn how to read your natal chart too).

No sign is better than another and no natal chart is better than another. Because you can have so many different aspects at play in a natal chart, they're complex and show both the bad and the good. Don't forget that while a natal chart is supposed to be the map of your life, you are still a person and you can change, shift and embody anything you went. So if at the end of the day, you went out and did a ton of research, maybe you just haven't made it to the state of you that the chart is outlining.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
