Think of a princess or maybe more realistic…think of your day to day person that you would consider “beautiful". What comes to mind? Blonde hair? Blue eyes? Tall? Short? Maybe a nice athletic body, with a face clear of blemishes? Just close your eyes and envision that person…
If you’re lucky you’ll envision a realistic image of an average person but if you’ve been brainwashed by social media then you might picture someone that has been photoshopped to have higher cheek bones, or edited to be made to look thinner or clear of any imperfection on the person’s face.
Social media nowadays has become a great tool that can be used for many different things not limited to but including, advertising, school and just for personal uses. It has been a great thing to be invented however the hot topics that are generally seen on social media are usually and mostly always very unrealistic. Have you ever seen those pictures that are trying to be funny and the one on the left says “on snap chat” and the one on the right says “in real life”?
Well yes those are pretty funny but it comes to show that these networks have given young adults (and even some older adults) some self-image issues.
These same pictures are some that are labeled “GOALS”. This picture may show how a girl has almost impossibly perfect eyebrows, makeup, a great body…etc. The reality is that more likely than not, the girl in the picture doesn’t even look like the girl in the picture ( at least not 24/7...because who has time for that?)
It is important for people to know this because if they don’t realize it, then their goal is some silly and unrealistic expectation.
They need to realize that it’s OK to not look like that person. That person in the picture should not have to be “GOALS”. The main goal that they should have is to be the best version of themselves inside and out.
Perfect eyebrows and a thin waist might get you a lot of likes on Instagram and a lot of snaps on snap chat however, if that’s your only goal, then you might want to do some re-evaluation on what’s really important.
With all of this being said it doesn't mean to not go out of your way every now and then and "doll up", however, just always know in your mind that it is ok to not look like the girl or model in the picture.
It's OK not to have perfect skin.
It's OK not to have a thin waist.
It's OK to not have those size C boobs that apparently everyone wants.
And most importantly...It's OK to just be you.
I bet Mr. Bean doesn't care what people think about him.
Here are some goals that could be in your best interest...
You are you and that is enough and once you realize that, who can stop you?
