Don't Be Afraid To Ask For Help

We all need a helping hand sometimes.

“You can do anything, but not everything.” –David Allen

We try to conquer the world, but we can’t always do it on our own. Sometimes, when everything seems to be falling apart, or we get so overwhelmed with what life has thrown at us, or we’re just having a bad day, we need to reach out to another person for support.

Life isn’t always easy. It often has more storms than rainbows, more tears than smiles, and more bad days than good. No one has a perfect life, I have never met a single person on Earth who has not gone through their fair share of bad days. And no one can do it all alone. We need to learn to ask for help when we are going through rough times.

Asking for help can be hard. You don’t want others to think you are incapable of doing things on your own. They won’t think this, trust me. They've had rough times too, and they know you would help them if the roles were reversed. Your friends want to help you!

Personally, when I am going through a rough time, I tend to keep it all to myself. I never share my feelings and struggles with others. This isn’t healthy. Keeping your feelings bottled up and your struggles to yourself will leave you feeling overwhelmed and alone. When you share what is going on, you will receive love and compassion that will make it all so much easier.

And when someone else asks you for help, always remember: what would you want them to do if it were you asking?

“Sometimes the only answer people are looking for when they ask for help is that they won’t have to face the problem alone.” –Mark Amend

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
