Social distancing is easy for some and difficult for others. It not only entails staying home, but cutting off the outside world for a bit. It can be difficult for extroverts to keep themselves sane during a time like this; it can be difficult for anyone to keep themselves feeling normal during a time in life most of us have never experienced before.
Here a few tips to keep yourself busy and mentally healthy the next few weeks,
•Read a book. Or two or three.
Keep your mind working and indulged in another reality for a bit. Practice reading books and take a break from socials and streaming services.
•Play board games and puzzles.
Take a trip down memory lane with your fellow house members. Play that childhood game or put together that new puzzle.
•Redecorate your room.
Purge your closet, your books, your decorations, anything and everything you’ve been holding onto for months. If you haven’t touched it in the last 6 months, create a donate pile. Create a sale pile. Do anything that can create a fresh atmosphere for yourself.
•Clean your whole house.
Deep clean EVERYTHING. The fans, the counters, the carpets, the bed sheets and the fridge. Clean it all out and off and refresh that house.
•Workout.
I know gyms everywhere are closing down. And I also know the average person does not have a full blown gym set up in the garage. But that is OK! Do those body squats, abs and arms. Use house hold items for weights for squats. Resort to those body weight workouts, they will tone you and still keep you mentally and physically in shape while stuck
•Do I even need to mention this one? SELF CARE.
Treat yourself to that bubble bath. Start that new skin care routine finally. Self tan? Go for it. You may not be seeing other people, so do it for yourself.
Check on your extrovert friends, but also check on your introvert ones. No one has been through a time like this in life before. No one our age, anyways. Being quaratenined to your house is something no one has been through before. We think it will be manageable, but the truth is no one knows how this will truly affect them or their mental health. Take care of yourself the next few weeks. Keep your mind healthy along with your physical body. Keep yourself in a routine- it will help keep you sane during these scary times.
