Poetry On Odyssey: The Perfect Night

"Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud" - 1 Corinthians 13

There are always ups and downs with love but in the end of it all, nothing is greater than the bond between two lovers

Poetry On Odyssey: The Perfect Night

The Perfect night is with You.

It is with blankets and roses of white

A candlelit dinner under the moonlight

Our favorite song on the radio

Driving around with everywhere to go

Romance in the air is all we breathe

Almost like we're Adam and Eve

We fell once but never again

The perfect night is upon us

Between you, me and the God above

I don't have much to give other than my heart

It skips a beat when I see your walk

Your dress, your eyes, your voice when you talk

You shine brighter than the brightest star

Even when you're near you seem far

Ever so close in the blink of an eye

Your eyes open up like a clear sky

Staring in awe of what I see

You shine so brightly such as a sunrise on the sea

The Perfect night is without a trace

You standing there in that lace

Knowing the world is ours

Today and tomorrow and from dusk till dawn

Our lights will shine even when we're gone

You and I have lived so long it's about time I tell

Back when we first met my heart nearly fell

Back to the parts, we do not tell

Back when smiling covered my face

It would soon leave without a trace

Goodbyes and hellos are temporary

Yet apologies are necessary

Love lasts long while under the stars

No fancy clothes or fancy cars

Like that song on the radio was meant to be

Back when we used to be Adam and Eve

Gone but never forgotten is how love tends to be

Here one day and gone the next

Our love will never leave our nest

I would say more but history knows the rest

For you and I were meant to be

From today and tomorrow

Through all eternity

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch
Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
