With the rain, came the witch
Who lived next door.
With the rain,
She would come out and play.
Without,
She shut herself up
Back in her house.
All the people
In the land hunted
The witch's house
With torches and forks.
But the witch remained safe
In her little crooked house.
The people jeered.
They whistled and swore.
All of these things angered
The tiny little witch.
She huffed and she held her tongue.
The more the witch staid in her house;
The more the people flocked.
And when the rain came,
The crowds were amazed.
The witch exited her house
With style and grace,
And would dance
Cheek to cheek with the wind.
And that made her all the while
More happy and free.
My friend, the witch who comes out
When it rains.
