The sea foam threatens
to draw the shore back
under bit by bit as the sand
softens beneath it's waves.
The wind sweeps a girl's
hair back as she sits on the sand,
staring at the endless blue
expanse ahead of her.
Her eyes match the water
and the yellow blanket
beneath her rivals the sun.
She sits alone in silence.
Responsibility to something
she hated drew her to here.
Far from where she was
supposed to be.
She could manage this.
Alone on the beach as
children played in the crashing
waves and created castles of sand.
She sat up, not bothering
to brush away the sand
on her hands and feet.
She walked to the waves.
Like called to like
as she stepped into the
ocean's pull and swam
into the deep depths.
The ultimate getaway
for her was somewhere she
could let her thoughts run rampant.
That was here.
The ocean has all the
room it needs.
Great parts still unexplored,
still a dark secret.
