Today, I asked my mom what I should write about. She looked at me and said "write about your cat." Of course, with my cat being my one true love, I thought that was a great idea. Now, I'd like to introduce everyone to my child, Bennie Sue. Or Bennie, Ben, Ben Ben, Benneth Susan, Beanie Baby, or whatever else I feel like calling her that day. Even though she is evil incarnate, I love her more than words can explain.
For years after our cat died, I begged and begged to get a cat. My family was dead set that we were never going to get another. I think I annoyed them so much that they finally relented and let me get one. So, when I got back from summer camp, my dad, brother, and I went to the Petsmart, KC Pet Project, and a couple other places. We first visited another cat named Stormy. I was dead set that I wanted her, but the caretaker said that she didn't like to be cuddled, and my dad knew that would be a problem. So, we went on to the next place.
Bennie Sue was the last cat we looked at, and I fell in love with her. She was climbing all over my shoulders, and she really didn't seem that shy. I called my grandma, and she was hesitant, because Bennie was already 7 years old. She finally agreed and I took her home that day. She was extremely shy and spent most of the time hiding from us.
Now, 3 years later, you can't go anywhere without her being in the same room with someone. She loves to play, has more energy than expected at her age, and is extremely nosey. She sleeps all day and then runs around like a hooligan. She bites, scratches, and claws. Even with all that, she's the sweetest thing ever. She loves to cuddle (when she's in the mood), and she sleeps in my bed almost every night. She's definitely my happy place, and I love spending all of my time with her. I love getting a head start on being a forever cat lady.
