The coronavirus started in a city named Wuhan and the authorities are still not sure what exactly caused the virus. But the virus has spread exponentially since being flagged. It has reached the USA, Australia, France and more. As of yesterday, according to The New York Times, 106 people had died from the virus, and as of today, 170 have died. Thousands of people are being monitored for the virus, this is because the virus has an incubation period. The toll of people said to have this virus jumped from the 4,000s to the 6,000s between Tuesday and today.
The other danger with this virus is that it is evolving fast and is spread by basically being around an infected person. As mentioned before the virus has an incubation period, where a person could be infected and not even know it. The most common symptoms make this virus even more dangerous because they are similar symptoms to any common cold; runny nose, headache, sore throat, fever, and a general feeling of being unwell.
It is incredibly important that if you are feeling unwell after having been in contact with someone who has traveled outside the country that you go to the doctors. Additionally, if the person who has left the country is feeling unwell, you should encourage them to visit the doctor, too. In contrast, if you are feeling sick and even suspect you have the virus you should go to the doctor because you never know about the people around you and where they have been. Especially if you live in a large city or go to a university, they are already a huge breeding ground for germs and diseases.
You may be asking, "so how do I stay safe?" You should treat it like any other virus outbreak, no need to panic if there is no immediate impending doom to your area.
Wash your hands at any chance you get, keep hand sanitizer on you, take emergenC or multivitamins, eat healthy, and exercise. Always make sure to wash your hand though, that is the biggest one. Your hands touch everything and then you touch your face and then you get sick. So just make sure to practice safe hygiene and hope that people are covering their mouths when they cough or sneeze.
The coronavirus has taken lives, but there is no need to panic as long as you stay informed of where the virus is located in your country, you practice good health and hygiene, and you go to the doctor as soon as you feel unwell.
Now that you know this information, make sure you pass it on. Knowledge is only power if you use it, tell your family and friends to be extra careful until this has been handled and is under control.
