5 Things Every Girl Needs To Remember When It Comes To Confidence

In This Article:

This is a message for every girl — the hurt, the belittled, the silenced. Being a girl does not mean that you are anything less than a person. You have the ability to do anything and be whoever you want to be. These are a few things that you need to remember when you get put down, either by others or simply yourself.

1. You do not need other people to make you happy

Many girls are under the assumption that you need a significant other, or a large group of friends to stay happy. This is very inaccurate. To be happy, a person only needs a few close and trusted people and a good mindset. Having the ability to be confident and find joy in the little things in life, is the true key to happiness.

2. Pleasing others is not necessary

Every day, girls make decisions based on what they believe will make other people happy. It is unnecessary. Do what you want to do. There is no point in giving yourself stress or regret, for another person's happiness. Live your life for you and no one else.

3. You are more than an object

You are a person. You have emotions, values, and feelings, that should never be compressed or taken away from you. No one has the right to force you to do anything. If you feel like you are being treated as less than a human, remove yourself from the toxic situation. It will be the hardest, but most freeing feeling ever.

4. Speak your mind

Don't be silenced. Be strong and opinionated. If there is something you are unhappy with, change it. If there is a problem, resolve it. Never settle for anything less than for what you see fit. Your thoughts deserve to be heard, so let the world hear them!

5. Be the best YOU you can be

You are fantastic the way you are. Don't let others' expectations of you define you. As long as you always put in all you have, you are doing great. There is no need to compare yourself to others. The only way you can achieve your personal peak is by being yourself.

Don't let anyone or your thoughts get you down. Everyone deserves to be heard. You have a purpose, no matter what anyone else thinks or says. You are a person inside of a body, not just an object. Live your life for yourself and be the best version of yourself you can be.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
