The Coronavirus pandemic, better known as COVID-19, has swept the world with panic. Nations have been engrossed with thousands of affected patients, law implications, and halts in the economy. The ultimate pause button has been pressed on the lives of many, for various reasons, and has a different effect on all different groups of the population. Many types of people are suffering in different ways, some more important to others, while some hit closer to home.
Due to health and safety issues, all schools and universities have been shut down until the fall 2020 semester. Us students did not expect such an abrupt end to our year, while seniors are coping with the loss of the final months. For 13 years students were encouraged with the futuristic thoughts of their glorious high school graduation. When our spirits ran low in the final stretches, glimpses of the Pomp and Circumstance, commencement speeches, and the tossing of caps filled our minds with joy. Now many are wondering if these ideas will remain figments of our imagination, or if our promised goodbyes will be ensured.
In light of these devastating circumstances, administrations and families of students are coming together to ensure seniors a proper end to their high school careers. Prom formals are being organized outside of school association and graduations are being rescheduled in later months with the hope that the summer heat allows enough of a break for us seniors to have our moment to shine. Many of us are struggling to find the silver lining, but with the help and support of many, we are getting second chances to preserve the moments we have yet to experience.
Foundations and funds have been put in place to support these events despite the lack of incomes and the shutting down of businesses. Making the most of these devastating times is resourceful to families suffering from all forms of loss. While this pandemic will be one for the history books, memories will linger and stories will be passed down of how every life has been effected with the intent of providing a healthy and happy Earth to inhabit once again.
While the senior's spotlight has been shone in many directions, positive thinking will hopefully instill hope to our seniors for their endeavors past graduation. May there be jobs to give and seated classes open, for the future is uncertain but holds promise.
