Moving out of your parent’s house is one of many big steps often associated with attending college. How it will go maybe a toss-up but there are a few things you can do to make sure all goes well.
Write your name and room number on your boxes.
As crazy as it sounds, you might forget you set down a box in the lobby or elevator. Making sure your name and room is on your items insures that someone will know where to take it if misplaced.
Communicate with your roomate.
Before moving in, see what time your roommate is moving in. This will prevent you from having a crowded room when trying to unpack.
Dress comfy.
Moving in isn't a leisurely task, make sure you wear something that will be easy to move in.
Bring a small tool set.
You never know if there's going to be anything broken in your room, so it's good to be prepared. After reporting anything broken to your RA, it's beneficial to have a tool kit to fix it yourself. Maintenance will be very busy during move-in week.
Bring a friend or family member.
Moving in may seem simple, but it can be timely. It's nice to have someone with you to help out!
Best of luck!
