Having an entrepreneurial mindset is the best way to get ahead in life. Thinking like an entrepreneur means that you do not wait for others to take action, you take it yourself. It means you do not follow others ideas and styles, you create your own and follow your own dreams. Why is there such a bad stigma associated with the word "entrepreneur"?

Do you want to be your own boss?

Do you want to set your own hours?

Do you want to decide who works for you?

Do you want to decide who you work with?

Or best of all, do you want to decide what you sell or what you do?

WHY are so many people scared to branch out. Why are you holding yourself back from doing something you truly love? Is it because of failure? Failure is inevitable! You will fail whether you are your own boss or you are reporting to someone else. At least if you fail at your own project and idea, you fail to yourself. You should be less afraid to fail when you have your own business rather than working for someone else... yet it is the opposite way. And I just do not understand.

The idea of creating my own content, creating my own business and products pushes me to work harder than anything else ever has. You get to create this amazing product or idea and you get all the credit. You get to build a business from the ground up and watch it flourish.

Entrepreneurship is the key to being authentically YOU. Own that business! Write those blogs! Create those products! Do whatever your heart desires. Do what makes you feel alive. Do what makes you feel like you have a purpose. Because I will tell you one thing- nothing will motivate you more than having an entire entity connected solely to your name. Nothing will drive your work ethic higher than having to create a product from a solely idea, to a tangible, sell-able item.

Being an entrepreneur myself, I was overcome with this new mindset. It pushes me to work harder every single day. Every single day I "dream" about ways to better myself and my business. And the best part, I get to turn these "dreams" into a reality. I get to carve out the true meaning of my name and my business. I get to decide where I want to go in life and what I want to do with it.

Every opportunity that is even mentioned in front of me now, I fantasize about me grabbing that opportunity and running. I question to myself "what makes me a better candidate over everyone else going for this same opportunity"? I have this desire to add more and more experience and skills to my resume. I have this crazy need to create this abundance of personal connections with people all over the country. Because you know what? It is not about what you know, it is who you know. And with entrepreneurship, that is vital. You have to create an image and face for yourself that others know and can connect with. You have to be the best you possible. And who does not love the thought of being the best possible version of yourself, especially if it promotes and grows your business?

Be your own boss.

Be the reason your name is remembered. Be the reason your products travel across the country. Be the reason your friends, family and strangers are buzzing about your products and the happiness they bring them.

Do something for yourself, by yourself.

College is filled with many things, and we're so often lectured to make the right decisions as we head out on our own into the college life. But sometimes it's necessary to indulge in some guilty pleasures as well as just doing things because you can. And honestly, a lot of the time it's inevitable. College is no piece of cake that's for sure, so it's okay to do some things you deep down know you shouldn't....once in a while anyways.
