People have been quick to judge Hillary Clinton for her husband’s infamous infidelity. They question her character due to standing by her man and claim that her loyalty makes her a bad role model for girls. With the inequality women still face in America today, yes STILL in 2016, I agree that it is imperative that the next president is an advocate for women and a role model for young girls. So I think it’s time to put the spotlight on Mr. Donald Trump and examine the things he has said about women, and what they would mean for them in a world where he was our president.
"26,000 unreported sexual assaults in the military- only 238 convictions. What did these geniuses expect when they put men & women together?"
In this May 2013 tweet Trump basically says that it is inevitable that when you put men and women together that the men will rape the women. Because men controlling themselves would be completely out of the question! An attitude like this would make rape victims feel like their rape was inevitable and that reporting it wouldn't help or be justified.
"You know, it doesn't really matter what [the media] write as long as you've got a young and beautiful piece of ass."
In an interview with Esquire in the 1990s Trump declared women to be nothing more than an accessory to have on your arm and show off. Nothing is said of a loving relationship, just a hot piece of ass.
"If Hillary Clinton can't satisfy her husband what makes her think she can satisfy America?"
This was a tweet sent out by twitter user @mplefty67 that Donald Trump's account retweeted. It equates Clinton's ability to run a country to her sexual performance. If women are only rated by their sexual performance and not their job performance what will their incentive be to excel in the workplace?
"If Ivanka weren't my daughter I'd be dating her."
This quote from 2006, according to NBC News, doesn't necessarily insult all women, but is just downright gross. Even for his daughter, whom he should have countless things to take pride in, he resorts to commenting on her sexuality.
"How much money is the extremely unattractive (both inside and out) Arianna Huffington paying her poor ex-hubby for the use of his name?"
This April 2015 tweet wasn't the first time Trump has called out Arianna Huffington, the extremely successful co-founder and CEO of the Huffington Post. He frequently points out that he thinks she is ugly. To him, her success as a writer isn't important or the even larger success of the Huffington Post. All that matters to Trump is her looks. He also points out that much of her success is due to using her ex-husband's last name, not because of her skill. A woman's success is all hers, not her husband's.
In response to his rude comments about Fox News host Megyn Kelly: "Did I say that? Excuse me." and "Over your life, Megan, you've been called a lot worse, wouldn't you say?"
According to The Telegraph, after their initial altercation at the first Republican presidential debate, Trump and Kelly had a long nine months of feuding. In this time he called her a "bimbo" and accused her of being on her period when she disagreed. The initial comments were insulting enough but the fact that he couldn't even fake an apology shows his complete disregard for women and who he's offending.
If this short list of insults wasn't enough for you, head to The Telegraph's page "Donald Trump sexism tracker: Every offensive comment in one place" to see a complete history of his chauvinism.
