Why Donald Trump's Sexism is Increasingly Toxic to America

A man who feels the need to degrade an entire population should not be the same man running for President.

Why Donald Trump's Sexism is Increasingly Toxic to America

Donald Trump has effectively turned this election into something that American history has yet to see -- from deliberately attacking minority groups across the country, to making news headlines daily for making promises that would essentially hold back America from making any kind of progress. If one has been following his continuous offensive statements, hypocrisies, and flat-out lies, it's almost overwhelming to think that this man is also a the Republican nominee for President. Donald Trump has undoubtedly been the worst presidential candidate in which America has ever seen, especially for the GOP. Recently, even Republican politicians themselves have figured this out, and have been slowly backing away from a presidential campaign that has been infamously labeled as the "sinking ship" because the candidate at the forefront of it did not stop to think that there is more dirt on him than he can even keep track of. The latest that has been leaked on Donald Trump, a 2005 tape of him explicitly telling Billy Bush that he since he is a "star", he can "do anything", including "grabbing [women] by the p*ssy". This was the last straw for most GOP leaders, as well as a large portion of his former supporters.

Donald Trump has effectively offended and degraded more than 50% of the U.S. population. Donald Trump has shown those, who may not have wanted to believe it before, the immature and disgusting behavior he is capable of as a human being; not only just a presidential candidate. As a woman who has been taking note of his offensive remarks since day one, I can personally say how difficult it would be to respect a leader who has harassed women who he either finds attractive, or is somehow getting in his way. His treatment of Hillary Clinton via Twitter and presidential debates should be clear proof of this.

Also as a woman, as well as a millennial, I am by no means comfortable with living through a Trump presidency. I am most certainly not comfortable with generations living after me living through a Trump legacy for decades. To see a man hold the highest office in the land, and be the same man who, at the age of 59, said that he can personally do anything that he desires to women, is a nightmare that I wish to not have to live through. Women make up more than half of this country's population, and it would make absolutely non sense to have a man who has no regards for women also be the same man who can decide where their country is headed. His continuous sexism, and continuous denouncing of his sexist remarks, is only proof that he is the one reason as to why America could be set back in 50 years of social progress for minority groups and women.

Perhaps before Donald Trump excused his degrading words during a nationally-broadcasted presidential debate as "locker room talk", people neglected to inform him that the Oval Office is not a locker room. Running for president does not mean you can excuse degrading and disrespecting the opposite sex. Having millions of dollars to your name and a reality TV show does not give you automatic permission to take advantage of women. Being a man does not give you the right to set back the equality in which women are working so hard to earn in the 21st century.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
