As the title eludes to, president-elect Donald J. Trump is currently in the process of assembling his future administration. This will be an indication of how he intends to govern. In the coming days, we will become more aware of this as more cabinet level officials and key advisers are announced. But we can get a glimpse of this "Who's Who" cabinet while these key posts are being tentatively filled. The information and backgrounds of these appointments were provided by the New York Times and would highly recommend reading their editorials about the ongoing process. Some of these individuals were ardent Trump supporters from the beginning, some were Trump skeptics, but, regardless, all made it onto our list.

Secretary of Defense: James "Mad Dog" Mattis

The Secretary of Defense is the principal defense policy adviser to the President. Under the direction of the President, the Secretary exercises authority, direction, and control over the Department of Defense. The Secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate. The incoming secretary will shape the fight against the Islamic State while overseeing a military that is struggling to put in place two Obama-era initiatives: integrating women into combat roles and allowing transgender people to serve openly.

Donald Trump announced at a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio - during his Thank you Tour - that he had selected General Mattis to head up the Department of Defense. Mattis, a former commander of U.S. Central Command, is known for his blunt, outspoken style and his selection likely signals Trump will take an increasingly hard line stance with Iran. Mattis, known by the nickname "Mad Dog," aggressively led a Marine division into Baghdad during the 2003 invasion in Iraq. He has openly talked about enjoying war and "brawling." But he is also considered a "warrior monk" with a deep understanding of military strategy and planning. Mattis, who retired in 2013, will need a Congressional waiver before he can be confirmed. A 1947 law requires a seven-year wait before an active general can head the Pentagon.

Secretary of the Treasury: Steven Mcuchin

The Secretary of the Treasury is the head of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The department is primarily concerned with the U.S. budget process, monetary policy, and other financial matters. The secretary will be responsible for government borrowing in financial markets, assisting in any rewrite of the tax code and overseeing the Internal Revenue Service. The secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate.

Trump has selected Steven Mcuchin. Mr. Mcuchin served as the Trump campaign's national finance chair and was largely considered the front runner for the job. He began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 17 years and rose to become a partner. He left to start his own hedge fund and went on to become a financier of Hollywood films like "Avatar" and "American Sniper." Throughout his career, Mnuchin showed only a limited interest in politics and remained mostly behind the scenes during Trump's run.

Secretary of Transportation: Elaine Chao

According to the agency's own website, the mission of the United States Department of Transportation is "to develop and coordinate policies that will provide an efficient and economical national transportation system, with due regard for need, the environment, and the national defense." As the head of the department, the Secretary of Transportation oversees eleven agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Highway Administration, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate.

Trump has selected Elaine Chao, the former Labor secretary under President George W. Bush, to be Transportation Secretary. Chao became the first Asian-American woman to hold a Cabinet position when President George W. Bush appointed her labor secretary. She stayed in the post for eight years, becoming the only Cabinet member to serve during Bush's entire time in office. Chao is married to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and has served as director of the Peace Corps, CEO of the United Way of America. She was the deputy secretary of transportation under President George H.W. Bush.

Secretary of Health and Human Services: Tom Price

The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services is the head of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, concerned with health matters. The Secretary is a member of the President's Cabinet. The office was formerly Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. The secretary will help Mr. Trump achieve one of his central campaign promises: to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. The Secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate.

Trump has selected Mr. Price, a six-term Republican congressman from Georgia and orthopedic surgeon to be HHS Secretary. Price has authored a proposal that would drastically how healthcare is done in America. The main tenet of his proposal is to offer tax credits to purchase insurance.

Secretary of Commerce: Wilbur Ross

The United States Secretary of Commerce is the head of the United States Department of Commerce. The Secretary is concerned with promoting American businesses and industries; the Department states its mission to be "to foster, promote, and develop the foreign and domestic commerce". The Secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate.

Trump has selected Wilbur Ross, an investor whose fortune is estimated by Forbes to be $2.9 billion. Mr. Ross has said the United States must free itself from the “bondage” of “bad trade agreements,” and has advocated threats to impose steep tariffs on China. His relationship with Trump goes back decades. Ross helped Trump keep control of his failing Taj Mahal casino in the 1990s by persuading investors not to push out the real estate mogul. Ross is expected to face questions during his confirmation about his role in the 2006 Sago Mine disaster in West Virginia. Twelve miners were killed after an explosion there shortly after his company purchased the mine. It will be interesting how this pans out

Secretary of Education: Betsy DeVos

Probably the most relevant cabinet position the college students, the United States Secretary of Education is the head of the U.S. Department of Education. The secretary takes advice, and proposes and executes legislation that deals with federal influence over Education policy. The Secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate. Mr. Trump has said he wants to drastically shrink the Education Department and shift responsibilities for curriculum research, development and educational aid to state and local governments.

Trump has selected Betsy DeVos, a former chairwoman of the Michigan Republican Party and an education activist who is a passionate believer in school choice, as his nominee. DeVos currently heads the American Federation for Children. Her group advocates for charter school education and she has been an advocate for school vouchers. Groups like the National Education Association and American Federation of Teachers have opposed her nomination, arguing her work promoting charter schools has undercut public education. Regardless of your political leanings on education, Ms. DeVos is an known quantity in the realm of education and education policy. I am sure her actions and initiatives inside the department will receive its fair share of both praise and criticism.

U.N. Ambassador: Nikki Haley

The United States ambassador to the United Nations is the leader of the U.S. delegation, the U.S. mission to the United Nations. Second to the secretary of state, the United States ambassador to the United Nations will be the primary face of America to the world, representing the country’s interests at the Security Council on a host of issues, from Middle East peace to nuclear proliferation. Trump has selected Nikki Haley, the governor of South Carolina, as his nominee. The daughter of immigrants from India, she was a prominent and frequent critic of Mr. Trump early in his run. Governor Haley has no formal foreign policy experience, so it will be interesting to see how she performs in her new role should she be confirmed by the U.S. Senate when it convenes next year.

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development: Dr. Ben Carson

The Secretary of Housing and Urban Development serves as the head of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. According to the mission statement of HUD, the Department's mission is "to increase home ownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination." The Secretary is appointed by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the United States Senate.

Trump is nearing an announcement of the former neurosurgeon and presidential candidate to be his nominee to lead HUD. Dr. Carson has said that he does not want to work in government, and it was not clear whether he had accepted the offer. This will be an interesting post to keep our gifted eyes on.

Central Intelligence Director: Mike Pompeo

The Director of the Central Intelligence Agency is the official head of the Central Intelligence Agency (C.I.A.), which in turn is part of the U.S. Intelligence community. The Director is reports to the Director of National Intelligence and assists his/her Deputy Director in the CIA. The Director is a civilian or a general/flag officer of the armed forces, who is nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate by majority vote. The new C.I.A. director will have to decide whether to undo a C.I.A. “modernization” plan put in place this year by Director John O. Brennan, and how to proceed if the president-elect orders a resumption of harsh interrogation tactics for violent extremist terrorists.

Trump has selected Mike Pompeo, Representative of Kansas and a former Army officer as his nominee. Mr. Pompeo is a member of the House Intelligence Committee and was a sharp critic of Hillary Clinton during the congressional investigation into the 2012 attack on the American diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.

Attorney General: Jeff Sessions

The United States Attorney General is the head of the United States Department of Justice. The Attorney General is primarily concerned with legal affairs, and is the chief law enforcement officer and chief lawyer of the United States of government. The Attorney General is appointed by the President and takes office after confirmation by the United States Senate. The next Attorney General is going to be key in helping the president-elect implement his “law and order” platform.

Trump has selected Senator Jeff Sessions,of Alabama, as his nominee for Attorney General. The Alabama senator became the first member of the upper chamber to endorse Trump. Mr. Sessions is a strong proponent of strict immigration enforcement, reduced spending and tough-on-crime measures. Though respected by his Republican colleagues in the Senate, Sessions will likely face Democratic opposition during his nomination hearing for past controversial remarks. Sessions was appointed by President Ronald Reagan for a federal district judgeship in the 1980's, but was blocked by the Senate after being accused of making racially insensitive comments about a former colleague.

National Security Adviser: Michael T. Flynn

The national security adviser, although not a member of the cabinet, is a critical gatekeeper for policy proposals from the State Department, the Pentagon and other agencies, a function that takes on more importance given Mr. Trump's lack of experience in elective office. This position does not require the advise and consent of the United States Senate.

Trump has selected Michael Flynn, the retired Army lieutenant general and former director of the Defense Intelligence Agency as his National Security Adviser. General Flynn has been outspoken about his view of the threat posed by Islamist militancy and was an ardent supporter of Mr. Trump during the campaign.

Chief of Staff: Reince Priebus

The chief of staff manages the work and personnel of the West Wing, steering the president's agenda and tending to important relationships. The role will take on outsize importance in a White House run by Mr. Trump, who has no experience in policy making and little in the way of connections to critical players in Washington.

As one of his first announcements of his new administration, Trump has selected Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, to be his White House Chief of Staff. He, along with Vice President-elect Mike Pence, will help Donald Trump navigate the swamp that is Washington D.C. and make those critical connections on Capitol Hill that he lacks.

Chief Strategist: Stephen Bannon

The position of "Chief Strategist" is a relatively new position, so not to much information is known about what the position itself entails. However, what we do known is that, whom ever will occupy this position, that this person will be “working as equal partners” in the administration with the White House Chief of Staff - Reince Priebus. This position also does not require confirmation by the United States Senate. An interesting scenario to watch unfold once the new administration moves into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

At the same time when he announced his White House Chief of Staff, Donald Trump also announced that he selected Stephen K. Bannon as his Chief Strategist. Bannon, the former editor of Breitbart News, is a controversial pick for Trumps administration. In addition to the number of head lines that were published at Breitbart while he was editor, it is also speculated that Bannon used disparaging language about certain ethnic groups in the past. Unknown whether those allegations are indeed true, Bannon is, nonetheless, is still a controversial pick for the the relatively new position of Chief Strategist.

Still Outstanding:

Secretary of State: Trump is believed to be considering former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, and former C.I.A. Director David Petraeus for the high-profile post.

Secretary of Homeland Security: Texas Congressman Michael McCaul and Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke are in the running.

Secretary of the Interior: Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin are believed to be finalists.

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Sarah Palin is also being mentioned for the VA, as is former Texas governor Rick Perry, former Florida congressman Jeff Miller, and former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown.

Secretary of Agriculture: Rick Perry is also in the running for Ag secretary as we as fellow Texan and current Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and former Georgia governor Sonny Perdue.

Secretary of Labor: By all accounts, Victoria Lipnic, the Equal Employment Opportunity commissioner and workforce policy counsel to the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, is the front runner for the position of Labor Secretary.

Secretary of Energy: James L. Connaughton, Chief Executive of Nautilus Data Technologies and former environmental adviser to President George W. Bush, is seen as the main contender for the position of Energy Secretary. Other plausible candidates include Gryphon Investors partner Robert Grady, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, and Chief Executive of Continental Resources Harold Hamm.

Director of National Intelligence: Currently, former Navy Admiral and Michael Rogers and former homeland security adviser under George W. Bush Frances Townsend are seen as finalists for the position of Director of National Intelligence.

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator: Myron Ebell, a director at the Competitive Enterprise Institute and a prominent climate change skeptic, is one of the leading contenders of EPA Administrator. Jeffrey Holmstead, a lawyer with Bracewell L.L.P., is another plausible choice.

United States Trade Representative: According to the New York Times, Dan DiMicco, former Chief Executive at the Nucor Corporation, is the only contender for the position of United States Trade Representative.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

1183
Happy Birthday Cake

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
