A Quick Overview of Why Donald Trump is a Big No
Donald Trump. The one and only. A celebrity, a billionaire, a business man. And now he’s the President of the United States. Sounds like a pretty incredible man, right?
So, then, why is the majority of our country so appalled by his election? Why did millions of people come together to protest against the installment of our nation’s 45th president?
I’ll fill you in.
First off, Donald Trump still lives in a world where the man is the head of the household, and the woman stays at home and cooks for the kids and cleans the house. He still believes that white people are superior to minorities, and that being homosexual is a choice. He preaches that global warming is a hoax and that insurance shouldn’t cover various women's organizations like Planned Parenthood which helps women in a significant amount of ways, not just one. And you may think I’m being a little dramatic, but his actions this weekend, has shown his true colors.
Just this past weekend, Donald Trump, himself, removed multiple tabs on the White House website. These tabs included climate change, Affordable Care Act, Civil Rights, and LGBT. These vastly important issues in our country, gone, with one click of a button. By removing these topics, Trump has invalidated the seriousness of these different issues. I don’t understand how one human being was given the power to make decisions based on his own beliefs without the permission of the rest of the country he is “supposed” to be leading. This isn’t the same thing as making a new tax law or putting up a new traffic light, these are legit issues that affect a significant part of our population.
3.8% of the United States population identifies with being part of the LGBT community. The icebergs in the Atlantic are literally melting day by day. Donald Trump is making decisions that are working against every fight, every march, every victory that these underappreciated groups did in order to have their voice heard. The United States is all about progressing and moving towards a brighter and stronger future, but with Trump as our president, we are only taking steps backwards. This is why people hate Trump. We feel undermined and betrayed by our country's new leader. We are OUTRAGED.
Along with this, Trump just recently signed an anti-abortion act that will work towards eliminating free clinics that many woman use for not just abortions, but birth control, STI tests and protection. And just to top this all off, he signed this anti-abortion act in a room full of ALL men. When did men become the deciding factor of the lives of women? What ever happened to our bodies, our choice? The sad part is, we’ll never see 7 women signing legislation about what men can do with their reproductive organs.
But America isn’t going to let Trump just come in here and mess everything up. Over a half a million people showed up for the Women’s march, this past weekend, to protest our new President. Women, from all around the globe are feeling invalidated and frankly hurt by Trump’s actions. This march wasn’t only to advocate for women’s rights, but for all causes that Trump has so proudly infringed upon. Women’s rights, LGBT rights, planned parenthood, black lives matter, climate change, education, disabled people,...the list goes on and on. And the funny (not so funny) thing is, Donald has managed to produce this much grief in a matter of days. For heaven’s sake, he’s has only been president for 10 days, and war has surfaced throughout our nation.
Now some may say, what’s the point in marching? Marching isn’t going to magically make Donald Trump not the president anymore. But that’s not the point were getting at. We understand Trump is our president. We’re marching to let him know that we will not sit back and let him do as he pleases. The fact that people, and I mean, millions of people, felt the need to protest our new president shows A LOT about where our country stands.
If Trump was able to do so much damaged in just a short matter of time, days even, I can’t imagine what he is capable of in the next four years. He is unfit for the presidency and I hope that this will help people see what Donald Trump is truly capable of.
The United States is a democracy. A democracy. Which means we make decisions as a country. Together. Not by the hand of a rich, thick-headed billionaire that can’t get his shit head out of the 1900’s.
Stay strong America. Keeping fighting for what you believe in. #HeWillNotDivideUs
Make America Great Again. What a phrase, isn’t it?
