Well, I'll Be Damned, Donald

Is Trump a changed man?

I normally don't dabble in politics, I actually stray away just by the thought of it. But recently in last year's presidential campaign, I was compelled to sit down and read about the then current events. I will not lie and say that I have closely followed Trump's and Clinton's campaign, though I can recall some of the policies that caught my attention.

In current news, just Thursday night around 8:40 pm our time, 3:40 am Syria's time, a United States warship launched a military strike on a Syrian airbase on President Trump's call. Well, I'll be damned, Donald! Why do you ask? Because earlier in the week, Syria's president Bashar al-Assad had launched a chemical weapons attack that killed dozens of Syrian civilians, which included many babies and children. (Oh no, not the babies). Now that is taking it way too far, according to Trump. And personally, I feel the same way. According to the United States government, Assad has a history of relying on brutal acts of violence to maintain his power when he feared that people were trying to overthrow him ( Jill Filipovic ). Coward move in my opinion. And as history tells it, this was not the first violent act that he has placed upon his civilians.

Moving on, we see that Donald has grown some balls and in the result, made a big daddy decision to launch missiles at a Syrian government airbase as the first direct military action. Now I know a lot of people I have seen on social media are saying, Well I'll be damned, Donald because they feel as though it will start a war, not only against Syria but possibly against Russia-Syria's biggest support. I think that I can speak for most Americans and say that we do not want a war, we don't want any trouble or drama with anyone. War will just add on to all of the other bullsh*t that we are currently dealing with now. And as for a newly inaugurated president, I am not sure that he should be starting any kind of drama this early on.

However, some Americans disagree. Most voted for Trump because they felt as if he would get things done. And by getting something done is another way of saying, don't be afraid to take charge, grab America by the p**sy and git her done. And I feel that this was his way of showing America, well, his voters that he was a man of his word and would actually get something done. Despite what Trump stated in a tweet on September 7th, 2013 at 6:21 am, advising then-President Barack Obama "not to attack Syria and to save his power for another more important day."

Whether you will like to admit it or not, Barack Obama was criticized for a lot of things during his presidency. And this topic was one of them, as many advised him not to take action in a relative matter like this. Also, keep in mind that Trump also advised Obama not to launch an attack on Syria without Congressional approval, yet Trump did not have their approval prior launching the Tomahawk missiles. Well, I'll be damned, Donald.

As of Friday, it seems as Russian is in Syria's corner by increasing the effectiveness of the air defense system in Syria. Russian president Vladimir Putin condemns the US attack against Syria and states that it was an "aggression against a sovereign state in violation of the norms of international law" (James Griffiths). The chances of US and Russian collision has dramatically increased due to Trump's snap judgement, in which Russian officials warned them not to do so (James Griffiths). And it does not aid to the fact that the relations between US and Russia is not on the best standing. Others believe that this has awakened more terrorist acts towards the United States in result of the missiles being launched into a rebel group town. (face palm). Well, I'll be damned, Donald.

Now I bet that you are asking yourself, "Why in the hell would be act so quickly? This does not have anything to do with the US so why act? I thought America was to come first?"

According to Trump, the pictures of the aftermath from Assad's chemical weapon attack compelled him to take action. He stated that what "Assad did was terrible and that he has crossed many red lines." And for the first time, I can agree with him. Seeing those pictures of the children lying lifeless was heartbreaking. And apparently, Trump felt the same way. So to send a message, a big message as some said on Facebook and Twitter, Trump without a thought, or maybe a lousy thought to send over the missiles to cease any further activity of chemical weapon production, was effective in his eyes. To some, he had a great motive because they felt that it was long overdue, especially with Syrian's six year civil war. In which caused at least 400,000 dead. While others, over five million to be exact, fled the country in hopes to get away, according to the UN agencies. Most have tried to enter the US. But personally, I can't help but to recall a time during Trump's campaign where he promised to ban Syrian refugees into the United States. All refugees which included babies and children. And while defending his promise to ban Syrian refugees, he stated proudly that "he could look Syrian children in the face and tell them that they can't come", (Jill Filipovic). Well, I'll be damned, Donald.

And to think that he actually feels sorry for them. No, he just wanted to show his voters that he can get things done. And in my opinion, he just shows that he is a man who does not follow instruction, he is arrogant, and does not think of any consequences of actions prior in doing so.

I am literally shaking my head in disbelief of all recent events this week. Bottom line, it all feels as if it was a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. I just feel horrible for the people of Syria paying the consequence of their actions of attempting to overthrow Assad. Right now, I don't have a solution, a logical situation as to what should be done.

But if you want other opinions, just log onto your Facebook and Twitter and see what everyone else is saying about it.

Well, I'll be damned, Donald.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
