"Make America Great Again" has been seen as the headline to mock in this upcoming presidential election. This is the doing of none other than Donald Trump, the GOP force that is undeniably dominating the Republican campaign thus far. My biggest question though has to be, why is this slogan so bad? I mean, doesn't everyone want to see America great again? But this brings me to my next question, has America ever been great, I mean really great? I don't think any of us can answer that question per say, however, I think that if anyone can make America great again, it is Donald Trump.
First, let me just disclaim that I am by no means ignorant to whats going on in our world today, more acutely, our own country. I may be bias because I am a proud Republican but don't let that sway you from reading this article, after all, isn't being involved in politics all about being informed of whats going on within both parties?
I don't know about you all but my Facebook feed has been filled with headlines and gifs dedicated to mocking Donald Trump. From his hair, to how he speaks, to what his family looks like, all the way to what he has said nine years ago (yes, I am referring to Rosie O'Donnell). But why does all of this matter and why is this relevant?
IT'S NOT.
People are so quick to judge our presidential candidates on mundane things such as appearances, accents, and social media and what is absolutely infuriating is that most of these people are so politically ignorant. So what if Donald Trump has wack-ass hair or a family that looks like they've stepped right out of the Purge? He is a successful businessman that has the ability to bring our country back up to respectable standards. Not only does he speak his mind without fear of retaliation, he is educated, very good with money, and has a passion for the wellbeing of our country.
Now many may think I am naive for liking Trump because he speaks his mind, but I don't care. It is extremely hard to find anyone who isn't afraid of being politically correct these days. Yes, I do agree that he is extremely blunt, but why does this matter? If he were speaking the ideas that liberals would support there would be no problem, however, because he wants to shut down our borders to protect the American people, and disagrees with "Black Lives Matter," he is seen as racist. This is absolutely ridiculous. Not only will closing our borders protect American's from potential terrorist attacks from overseas, it will also aid in protecting us from multiple gangs that have entered the United States through the Mexican border. And why do only Black lives matter, I thought that all lives mattered, including the police officers that have been sworn in to protect us all.
Donald Trump is also a great presidential candidate because he understand what needs to be done financially to help our economy. One may think that it is ludicrous that Trump is a businessman stepping into the world of politics, however, isn't a businessman ideal for this job. No, he may not be as educated in the political field, but that is what advisors are for, and Trump isn't an idiot or else he wouldn't be leading the Republican campaign at 39%. Trump graduated from Wharton School of Finance and many of his published works are deemed business classics. He has an impressive real estate background and obviously knows how to manage money as he has funded a majority of his own campaign.
Lastly, Trump has a passion for our country which is something that has been lost by many of us. I think it's safe to say that we have all lost a little bit of faith in our country over the last few years, whether that be from the treatment towards Planned Parenthood, to the division of our nation through the color of our skin. Someone needs to lead our nation to a point where everyone has the opportunity to reap what the United States has to offer through handwork and not just mooch off of the hard work of specific classes of people. Trump has a passion for our country and that passion can be found amongst his followers that extends well past 7 million people.
If people were to do their homework on this presidential candidate and see past the man that was once only known for "The Apprentice," they would accept Donald Trump as someone who can truly make America great again, just as I did.
