People of America, GET OVER YOURSELVES. I'm sorry but at the same time, I'm not sorry at all because this country's behavior post-election is actually embarrassing on a worldwide scale. America on its way to being on the level of dysfunction as Syria and Greece, all because the Democrats didn't get their way.

I understand you're all mad, but whatever happened to the gung-ho "stand together" and "hope" attitude that was shoved down everyone's throat during Obama's Presidency? If anyone has an answer to that please let me know because I am desperately wondering why America can stand behind a president set on turning the country into a socialist nation but cannot find muster up any support at all for the current POTUS who has been left to deal with the mess made by the oh so loved Obama. Well, news flash, Obama is out, indefinitely, and all of your complaining/ridiculous protests are not going to make him magically reappear in the White House or make the voters of America un-elect Donald Trump as President.

The proof is in the pudding people, the American people spoke and President Trump is what they wanted... hence why he is out PRESIDENT. No President is perfect, and need I remind you that the latter, Hilary Clinton, was no angel either (dare I refresh your memory on the Benghazi scandal and not to mention the recent uproar of her email scandal during the time of this election, and that's not even touching on all of her involvement with the scandals while Bill Clinton was in office). Scandal seems to be a pretty common word when it comes to Mrs. Hillary Clinton... So I ask again, why is it okay for everyone else to be imperfect EXCEPT for Donald Trump?

Cut the man some slack, people — yes he hasn't been perfect in the past, but neither have any of these other people you love to support so much. Not to mentions the cold hard fact that Donald Trump is actually President now.

By acting a fool, all you are accomplishing is making this country look dysfunctional and as a result, vulnerable to the rest of the world. You can't change the facts, so why not channel that energy into something positive that can actually make a difference? Get involved with your local government and find out how your voice can be heard. After all, that is what President Trump wants you to do. Please put the pitchforks and coat hangers down and let's all join together as a "One Nation Under God" and "Make America Great Again"!

Ten Truths Every Honors Student Knows
Photo by Poodar Chu on Unsplash

One of the main reasons I came to Salem State was I was offered a spot in the honors program. While it offered many benefits, scholarships and priority registration to name a few, what drew me in was the strong sense of community and close knit friendships many found. I am glad to say that that I did find these things, and so much more. I found a home made up of some of the most brilliant and most unique people I have ever met. Being in an honors program creates a college experience unlike any other and creates some universal truths that really only an honors student can fully understand.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?
