On January 6 of the new year, the United States Capitol was stormed by a herd of rioters in reaction to the results of the Presidential Election. It all started when Donald Trump encouraged his supporters to take a stand against the counting of the electoral votes that confirmed President Joe Biden won.
This resulted in hundreds of Trump supporters dressed in gear climbing the walls of the Capitol, pushing through barriers and charging officers and guards to get inside. They vandalized property of the Capitol and participated in looting and chanting.
They targeted members of the congress, including Nancy Pelosi. This day will forever go down in history, leaving five people dead and over a hundred people injured.
Like Gretchen Weiners said, stop trying to make Donald Trump happen, it's not going to happen.
Over the course of the past four years Donald Trump has managed to discriminate against minorities in America, land us in a global pandemic and enter impeachment twice. During the Black Lives Matter movements, he referred to the peaceful protestors as "thugs'' and "terrorists" as well as threatened to use the military to shoot them.
He's also restricted LGBTQ+ rights, making it challenging for them to be accepted in America. When the news of the coronavirus first appeared in January, Trump ignored it. He referred to it like the flu and downplayed the severity of the virus countless times while the world was issued into a quarantine.
Despite claiming he had it under control, millions of people have died, and he blamed China. Today, we are still living in a pandemic that has changed the lives of many forever.
When Trump was first impeached, it was for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. It started when he called the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky to interfere with Biden winning the election. At the time, he was withholding military aid.
He was then impeached a second time when he encouraged his supporters to raid the capital and wreak havoc until he won. To highlight his impeachments, during his last days as president, he went as far as to call the Georgia Secretary of State to "find" extra votes to overturn the previous election.
Donald Trump has managed to further divide America and negatively change the United States forever.
