I hope he never becomes one.

It has recently come to pass that the president of the United States of America, one Donald J. Trump, has enacted an executive order banning Muslims from Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen. Why would the president do this instead of just banning all Muslims from entering or leaving the US? The truth is that Trump doesn't directly do business with these particular countries. It can't be said for certain if this is WHY Trump decided to ban these specific countries but America can be certain that this will have long lasting effects on a grand scale.

What Donald Trump did by enacting this executive order was to not only challenge the likes of radical terrorists groups around the world, but to also further separate Americans. This has already exploded into another topic that is polarizing America. Whether you agree with what he did or not it is probably very hard to understand or empathize with the other side of the debate. Donald Trump has created another shouting match for America and now the world to partake in. With tensions so high it's only a matter of time before something gives.

People are being detained at airports. Families are being separated around the world; either by distance, by barriers imposed by the American government, or by political belief. No one knows what's going to happen. The people don't know, the media doesn't know, and the government itself has no clue what the next four years will hold.

It wasn't long ago that people rallied behind a man who blamed a religious minority for their problems. The people felt that there was something wrong. They felt that they weren't being represented or being dealt with fairly. One man took hold of the people's disgust and frustration and told them he could solve their problems. He told the people who's fault it was. He slowly enacted changes that marginalized and segregated people. The ones who disagreed with him voiced their dissent. They said that it was wrong but they didn't fight hard enough before it was too late. Eventually that man had the religious minority corralled into camps and put to death by the millions. But he did not stop their. He realized that there were other people to blame as well, the other dissenters. He started with the religious minority, the Jews, and when he realized that no one would stop him he went after Gypsies, Poles, Slavs, homosexuals, and anyone who did not submit to his regime.

There is a reason that they say history repeats itself.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
