Donald Trump, China, And UCLA Basketball

Taking a look at the psychology of Donald Trump and discussing why he does the things he does.

In the recent political news, Donald Trump made his social media presence known (once again) after he tweeted about one of his most significant accomplishments in office up-to-date.

After he reached out to the Chinese president, Xi Jinping, asking him to release 3 UCLA basketball players from jail for shoplifting in a Chinese Louis Vuitton store, Trump immediately proved that his highfalutin ego is his primary motivation.

Once Jinping motioned to accept Donald Trump's request to release the players on Tuesday, November 14th, after feeling that they learned from their immature mistake within a couple of days in a Chinese jail, Trump took to the social media realm in hopes to gain recognition for his "grand accomplishment".

What does this tweet mean, you might ask? Well, two things.

One: Donald Trump is a narcissistic little man who feels the need to be recognized for every little thing he does...but we knew that already.

Two: Donald Trump cares more about athletics and foreign relations than political and economic standings with China.

In a nutshell, the psychological climate of Donald Trump is heavily revealed in this whole soap opera drama. From this very tweet alone, it is very obtrusive how Trump refers to himself in the third person, as if he is bigger and better than the average Joe.

Trump's thirst for recognition and hunger for credit is something us Americans have to get used to for the next three years (at least), and if we learn anything about him within that time period, we'll definitely grow to know that political correctness is not his forte.

Don't get me wrong, Trump is not the worst president we met as a country. I mean, we did get past presidential reigns over James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, and Franklin Pierce, but Trump's priorities are definitely out of whack.

With ambiguous trade negotiations open with China and the volatile love triangle between North Korea, China, and the United States still up for debunking, one would think basketball players would be the last thing on Trump's brag list. But hey, who knows what goes on in that man's head? We can only hope that his administration is covering the tracks that he fails to tend to.

PS: Yes, LiAngelo Ball and his two UCLA teammates did, in fact, thank Trump for his support after they returned to the United States as free men. Trump wins again!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
