Donald Trump vs. the 1st Amendment
KTLA

The hypocrisy of Donald Trump is honestly breathtaking at times. This past week has been one of those times. In terms of negative campaigning between Trump and Clinton, I’d thought that we've already seen most of the major attack themes going into November – Benghazi, Trump University, the Clinton Foundation, outsourcing jobs, etc. However, Trump’s poll numbers have been rather rocky as of late, so I suppose that it was only a matter of time before he found yet another false flashy headline to latch onto. This time? Clinton’s physical health.

This came as a bit of a surprise to me, namely because I haven’t really noticed any substantial attacks on a candidate’s health since the age of John McCain in 2008. Nonetheless, here we are. Letters and notes from Clinton’s physicians have now begun to circulate all over the press, leading some to speculate that Clinton might potentially have serious health problems that could render her unfit for the presidency. Now, every time Clinton coughs or trips, a fresh bout of conspiracy arises. Oh well – at least some of the photographs of Clinton tripping are quite humorous…especially since they are now apparently news-worthy.

Reuters, http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2016/08/20/clinton.... Hillary Clinton dramatically loses her balance at a campaign stop in February.

Why does any of this matter? Because it’s not just another example of election tomfoolery. This is a direct example of how dangerous Trump can be. Just earlier this month, Donald Trump took to Twitter to throw a temper tantrum over his perceived treatment by the media.

And the worst part is that many Trump supporters legitimately believe this hype. Republican lap-dog news agency Fox News (notice, by the way, that Fox is the one running the majority of the Clinton health stories) puts forth the narrative that the mainstream media is left-wing, constantly running stories on social media with the headline “BIAS ALERT.” Given that most media is supposedly biased against the right, Trump’s claims all of the sudden begin to seem more credible. Perhaps the media ought not be able to run such outrageously false stories?

…Isn’t that what Trump just did with Clinton’s health? Or the drug dealers and rapists? Or the Khan family? But nah. That doesn’t matter. Critiquing Trump attacks is just more unfair reporting by the evil left. A Trump presidency represents a serious threat to the freedom of the press. After all, he’s already pledged to “open libel laws” and has a blacklist of news agencies that are banned from all of his campaign events.

Wake up, people. Trump doesn’t want negative stories covering him. Because negative stories are lies, right? Just another example of the evil press going after him. We’re potentially giving Trump the leeway to go complete dictator-style and shut down all press that dissents against him, for the reason that the press is spouting lies. Reminds me of the “lies” that the evil capitalists use to mislead people about North Korea. Wake up, people. Are we going to let Trump get away with this, and lose one of our dearest freedoms?

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
