Anyone who knows me knows that dogs are one of my greatest joys in life. This year I was able to give so many doggies my love. This is a tribute to all of the dogs that made me smile, and made each day of 2016 a little better.
Lucy is my baby and she makes my heart so happy. I miss her so, so much when I am at school, but when I come up the driveway after being away for a while I am reminded of her unconditional love for me. It is cliche but true that a dog is a girl's best friend. I can always find her waiting for me to come to bed, or to be at the door with a wagging tail when I come home (even if I was only gone for two minutes). I love watching her run in the park as fast as her chubby body allows her to, I love the way she sticks her butt in the air when she is overly excited and can't contain her joy, I love her cold nose and kissing it as she tries to lick every inch of my face. Lucy is the greatest dog there is, and do not try to change my mind on that because I am very, very biased.
When I do not get to be with my Lucy, I am lucky enough to be graced with the presence of many good pups on campus:
My friends know that if they text me saying that there is a dog on campus, I will drop everything that I am doing and run to pet it. I am so glad I do because it is worth the beams of happiness the dogs bring me. The first time I did that I met this cutie pie, Bernie! I shed real tears when I met this pup. He was so cute he didn't even seem real. Parting from this fluff was one of the hardest things to do. I texted my boyfriend simply that I was sad and he knew immediately that it was because I had left Bernie...
DOG THERAPY DAY! Aka one of the best, and happiest, days on campus. There were at least 20 dogs on the Green. I have never been so overwhelmed with dog love. The picutres speak for themselves.
Believe it or not, these handsome fellas are brothers! They are both training to be service dogs. They were so mushy and wouldn't stop giving me kisses! Lucky for them, I do not mind a little dog slobber. Good luck being service dogs, sweeties!
This beauty is Penny! During one of the worst weeks ever, I saw on people's Snapchat stories that this little girl was on campus. I stopped what I was doing, left all of my belongings unattended in the library, and went to find Penny. That was one of the best decisions I made during my first semester, she brought some sunshine to my long week. Another time, my next door dorm neighbor ran into my room to tell me that she was on the Green. I put my shoes on as fast as I could and scurried outside to go get some Penny lovin'. She is quite the celebrity at the U. I'll be so sad to see how big she got while we were away on winter break!
This fluff was visiting her big (human) sister during Family Weekend! I, unfortunately, do not remember her name, I was probably too distracted by how soft she was to fully listen. All weekend you could find her frolicking on the Green, and all weekend you could find me beaming every time I saw her.
This handsome boy, with the sweetest eyes, was at the Volunteer Fair! He was representing the organization Adopt a Boxer Rescue. The poor thing had a horrible start to life but with the help of AABR, he is now in the loving, safe home he deserves!

Meet Buddy! Buddy can usually be found outside of my dorm building, sitting with his owner, just like this.
Buddy is a therapy dog! He is such a sweet, old soul. He is certainly a dog celebrity on campus, and when he's at his usual post, you can find him on countless Snapchat stories. Buddy is an old pup, and he is a great pup.
Snickers, the emotional support dog! He is the dog of a student in my Psychology class, and on this day he was a part of our lecture on different types of service dogs. I came into class stressed and down, forgetting all about our furry visitor. You could imagine the smile on my face that stretched from ear to ear when I walked into class only to find him! It was hard to get a better picutre of Snickers, he was very sleepy. But I don't blame him, it was a 9 o'clock class on a Monday... he fit right in with us drowsy college students.
When a couple comes up to you and says "Two beagles are about to run down here", you could imagine the squeals of excitment and dog kisses that were happening. I met this loveable pup at Nay Aug Park. He loves to race his brother down the ramp to the tree house, and I just so happened to be at the right place at the right time to witness the cutest sibling rivalry I've ever seen.
When I go home I have Lucy, but I also have...
Lola! One of my best friend's dog! You know how much you are going to miss your best friends when you are away, but you don't realize how much you are going to miss their pets.
Brandy the pug! My cute, chunky cousin who makes the silliest noises and always has me giggling. The chubbier the dog the better, so this pup is pretty great!!
In Canada I managed to find one of my dream dogs! Very happy that I could spread my love to dogs internationally!
Even when I go to babysit I have dogs to keep me company. The dog on the left, also Bernie, is a great help in making sure his baby sister is safe and sound. The dog tickling me with kisses loves to run around the backyard with the kids, and he sure is better at keeping up with them than I am. The fluffy labordoodle, Daisy, is one of the most mellow puppies I have ever met. She has the gentleset disposition and is always ready to curl up on the couch to watch a movie with the girls.
When I go to my boyfriend's house, I get to see two cuties! This is Sherlock! The key to loving Sherlock is petting him as soon as you get in the door, otherwise, he will get grumpy and he will let you know that. He is camera shy so the best pictures you will get of him is when he is peacefully sleeping, one of his favorite past times (which I totally understand). Sherlock has a big bark for such a little guy, but an even bigger heart. And he looks quite handsome in sweaters!
Meet Kora! She is Sherlock's niece (my boyfriend's sister's dog)! I'm always so excited when Kora comes to visit. She is one of the sweetest pups I know and one of the kissiest! Usually, when a girl hears that her boyfriend is going on vacation, she gets a little sad because she will miss him. In this case, I got to watch Kora for an entire week! How could I not be excited?! I got to have two adorable dogs for a week. I got to have Lucy at the foot of my bed (where she always sleeps) while Kora was either next to me being the little spoon, or somewhere burrowed in my blankets.
I got to end 2016 and ring in the New Year with this pretty pup named Phoebe! It was way past both of our bed times... as you can tell by her sleepy face.
There were many dogs I met this year and didn't get the chance to photograph, but they made me smile just as much as the other doggies! I can't wait to see, and pet, the dogs that will cross my path in 2017, and continue giving the permanent doggies in my life endless love.
Happy New Year from my Lucy and me!
