Dogs, Dogs, & More Dogs!

A life without a canine is not a life I want to live.

Dogs, Dogs, & More Dogs!

Do you have a dog? Have you ever had a dog? If you haven't, I would like the chance to tell my experiences with dogs in hopes of persuading you to consider adding a positive addition to your family.

My first dog was a beagle named Emma. My family adopted her when I was five years old and she was a part of my life for about eleven years. Eleven years! That's the majority of my life. Sadly, she passed away two years ago. Adapting to a life without her was incredibly difficult, considering I couldn't remember living without her. She was sweet, loving, and forgiving. I will never forget Emma and the positive impact she had on my life.

My second dog was Frankie, or we liked to call him Fatty. He was definitely not as sweet as my Emma. He was ornery and only liked my mom. I can't even tell you how many times he growled at me, bit me, made me bleed. Despite all that, I still loved him. He made me laugh. I eventually learned how to handle him and would actually be able to hold him without being attacked. The main reason I loved him was because of how he made my mom feel. He was her baby and I liked that he always kept her company. When he died she was heartbroken, and I was heartbroken for her.

My third dog was Willie. We currently still have him and I would consider him to be the weirdest of all the dogs my family has had. He also only likes my mom. He hates my brother to the point that he hides under the bed when he's home and does his business right on his bed. Let's just say the feeling's mutual between them. He's indifferent towards me. He doesn't hate me but he doesn't like me either. Despite his confusing feelings for me, I still love him and his cute little walk tremendously.

Lastly, we have Teddy. We got him only about six months ago and he is such a good boy. He has been an amazing addition to our family and I love everything about him.

As you can see, dogs have always been a big part of my life. I can't imagine life without them, without a loyal, kind, loving best friend. Dogs are always there for you in ways humans are incapable of. If you get the chance, adopt a dog. They will undoubtedly change your life for the better.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
