Why Dogs Are The Best

They are definitely man's best friend.

Why Dogs Are The Best

Dogs have been man's best friend since forever. I have two beautiful little cockapoos (a mix between cocker spaniels and poodles), and they never fail to put a smile on my face. I love them with all of my heart.

Dogs have the natural ability to brighten the room by wagging their tails. If you are ever sad, a dog is sure to turn that frown upside down. There is just no way that you can keep yourself from smiling when you are around a dog.

Sometimes they can be slightly annoying when they are continuously barking or begging for food, but I can promise you that you will not stay mad for long. Their pout will immediately melt your heart and everything will be okay again.

Dogs are like mini dishwashers. If you are ever feeling lazy, your dog will gladly lick your plate clean, as long as the food is safe for their consumption. Think about all of the time you could save if they clean your dishes for you!

They also tend to act as a shower. Whether you have been away from your dog for a long time or even three minutes, the reunion can and will get a little intense. Your dog will kiss (or lick) you until they cover your whole body with their love.

Dogs are incredibly loyal. Your friend that you were supposed to go to the park with bailed on you? No problem, your dog will never bail on you or your plans, especially if it involves taking a trip to the park. They will always be there to hang out with you.

If you do not sleep with your dog(s), they will be the first to greet you in the morning. One of my dogs will even wait at my door wagging her tail until I wake up.

No matter their size, your dog will fight for your protection. If they ever sense danger, they will prioritize your safety. Even the tiniest dog seems to be a giant when they need to guard you. They will, without fail, have your back.

Dogs are always willing to cuddle up with you on a rainy day and watch a movie. You will not even have to worry about agreeing on a film! What is better than a movie with your best friend on a rainy afternoon? Beats me!

They will stick around through the ups and downs. Dogs have a really bad short term memory so forgiving and forgetting is easy for them, especially the forgetting part. Nonetheless, they will always be by your side.

Dogs make you want to be a better person. They have a heart of gold and they inspire people to have the same. Dogs make us better people.

And last but certainly not least, there is no one that will love you more than your dog does. The unconditional love they provide you with is one like no other.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
