People are always considering pets, but do they really know what they're signing up for? When you think of a pet, the first thing you think of is how cuddly they are, how cute they are, or maybe even how loving they are. However, have you ever stopped to think about why a dog may be the best pet for you?

This article will list 10 reasons why dogs are the best pet for any type of person and has 5 reasons why dogs may not be the best kind of pet for you.

1. They will always love you, no matter what you do.

If you step on their paws, bump into them when they're eating, or accidentally close their tail in the door, a dog will always love you. You may get some dirty looks for a while, but they'll be climbing up into your lap within an hour.

2. They make great friends.

If you ever need somebody to talk to, they will listen to you until you stop talking. You can cry on their shoulders - literally - and they won't ever grow tired of hearing you vent about your problems.

3. They're great cuddle partners!

Seriously, dogs are like breathing pillows. They have soft fur and they'll let you lay on them. You can listen to their breathing or their heartbeat as you both slowly drift off if you wanted to!

4. You don't need to worry about cleaning up any dropped food.

If you drop some cheese, crackers, or even meat - a dog will always be there for you. They'll clean up the messes that you made and make sure that you don't get any ants!

5. They'll keep you warm.

If you ever need extra warmth, just call your dog up into your lap and they'll curl up with you and keep your hands warm. They'll also lay on your feet if you need them to.

6. They make great study buddies.

Students - get yourself a dog. They'll lay with you when you're studying, and they won't judge you if you start talking in your foreign language. In fact, you could even sing along to some music and they wouldn't judge you at all.

7. They won't eat all of your food.

Unlike most roommates, friends, and family.. A dog won't eat all of your food. If it's not out in plain sight, your dog won't be able to even know that you have food in the room!

8. They make anything fun.

If you're studying, working, or just having a bad day, a dog will always be in the mood to play. They'll bring you toys or balls and nudge you until you start playing. Who can be upset when they're playing with a dog?

9. They won't tell you to stop talking to your ex.

No matter who you're talking to, a dog will just sit there and keep you company. They'll be like the best friend that doesn't tell you over and over again to stop going back to your ex. Even if you totally should.

10. Petting dogs reduces stress.

Everybody's heard the saying that petting a dog lowers your heart rate.. But it turns out that it's actually true! Petting a dog for even just a few minutes every day will lower your stress enough that you can go through the rest of the day calmly.

-1. You'll never be able to wear a black outfit again.

Forget about wearing that black dress to a party, those black jeans to a night out, or that black top to the library. You will be completely covered in dog hair within 5 minutes of putting the black articles on.

-2. Forget about using the bathroom in peace.

You know how nosy little kids can be when you're going to the bathroom? Dogs are 10x worse than that. They'll sit outside your bathroom door and whine, scratch, or bark until you give in and just let them in with you.

-3. You can't eat or drink or carry anything without the dog investigating.

Is that food? Is that food for dog?? Is that drink??? Can dog have what you're holding???? No? Why not? Must investigate!

-4. They need constant attention.

If you don't give your dog at least an hour of attention every day, they'll start to get whiny. You don't want a whiny dog.

-5. They don't always realize they're being bad.

Dogs are still animals. When you scold a dog, sometimes they don't realize that they're doing something wrong. You might need to sit down and show the dog that they can't do what it was they were doing.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."

mu bucket list

I was sitting at my cubicle, now that I am an adult, looking at the rain pouring down on the windowsill, bumming on life, wishing for the rain to just stop for a full day.

There are moments where we count down the hours until work is over and how many more days till the weekend, and this many weeks until something exciting. Or something like that? Well, I was bumming because my next day off from work is not until Memorial Day weekend, which is not until the end of May. And since this is my first year out of college being a “real person,” I am totally missing the winter, spring and summer breaks. I am sure all of us have felt this way even if just for a hot minute…
