Okay, so first of all, I have to admit that I have a dog obsession. I don't mean like just a little dog obsession. Like, I actually (probably) have a problem. But, it's not a problem at all! So here's a list of why dogs are the best:

1. They have their own personality. I have never met two dogs that are alike. Just like people, they each have something unique about them.

2. They are so stinkin' cute. I mean honestly, you guys, have you ever seen an ugly dog? Even if they're rough around the edges, there's still something adorable in their ugliness.

3. Dogs make a good vacuum cleaner. Dropped some food? No fear, dog is here. Babies make a mess all over the place? The dog will clean them off.

4. Endless Cuddles. Dogs are always down to curl up next to you. Whether they're lap dog size or not, you can always count on them to be there.

5. They make you laugh. Dogs are funny creatures. Sometimes they do the darnedest things and you can't help but laugh.

6. They're there for you when you cry. After a tough breakup or a fight with someone, sometimes you need to cry. You can rest assured knowing that your furry friend will be there to help you dry your tears.

7. Dogs are always happy to see you. I've never come home from anywhere without my dog wagging her tail and howling because she's happy to see me. She does it every time, without fail, whether I was gone for an hour or a week.

8. Road trip partners. Dogs love car rides and they make good traveling partners. They love sticking their head out the window or riding shotgun with you. Take them to the dog park, the river or just a ride around town. They'll love it. Just don't tell them when it's time to go to the vet.

9. Workout partners. This one is probably geared toward more specific breeds, but that's okay. I've seen videos of dogs learning how to do yoga, skateboard or go on runs with their owners. Whatever you do, take them along and it won't seem so awful.

10. Unconditional love. Dogs provide love in its purest form. They don't care what you look like or what your past is, they love you for you. Even after you step on their tail or accidentally hit them, their world still revolves around you.

Dogs are so pure and you can learn life lessons from them. They can make you laugh until your sides hurt, and they'll be there to make you feel better. You can bet that when they cross that rainbow bridge, they'll take a piece of your heart with them. Dogs are one of the greatest gifts we've ever received. We don't deserve them, so never take them for granted.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
