Dogs Are Better Than Significant Others

Six reasons dogs are the best partners to have.

Dogs Are Better Than Significant Others

Dogs. They are the furry little fellows that follow you wherever you go in hopes of receiving some sort of affection. They have wet noses, slobbery kisses and leave fur everywhere. But who doesn't love their dog? Dogs are the best companion in life. They are by far way better than a significant other.

Of course significant others are nice to have. We all want to go on dates, cuddle, and have someone to share our life with, but dogs can easily do everything a significant other can do too. Dogs are capable of cuddling and sharing their life with you. The only compromise may be having a date at a dog park instead of a fancy restaurant. Sometimes, it seems that dogs are even better than significant others and here is why:

Dogs hate to see you go.

When it is time for you to leave for school or work, they give you the puppy dog eyes. They are wishing you didn't have to leave them. Dogs don't throw a fit or make rude comments, they just look at you longingly and then walk away because it is too painful to see you leave.

Dogs are the best alarm clock.

Who doesn't like waking up from morning slobber licks from your favorite four legged friend? It is so much better than an alarm clock annoyingly going off or the smelly morning breath of a significant other.

Dogs are always excited to see you.

They don't care how long you left them for, where you were, who you were with, or what you said to them last, they are just so incredibly excited to see you. They greet you the minute you walk through the door with a wagging tail and doggy smile.

Dogs are the best listeners.

Sometimes we don't actually want advice from the person we are venting to. We just want to vent. Dogs listen without saying a word back. They sit there with their ears perked up, hanging on every word that comes out of your mouth.

Dogs are the best cuddle buddies.

It doesn't matter what time of day it is, dogs are always there to snuggle you. It could be in the early morning, the middle of the night or even broad daylight. Dogs just want to give you love through licking and snuggles. If you are crying, they are the perfect pillow to cry into. If you are tired, they will sleep soundly next to you. If you just want company, they'll join you. Whether they are snuggling your face or at your feet, they are always willing to be next to you.

Dogs love you more than anyone else ever will.

A significant other will often tell you how much they love you and attempt to show you how much they love you, but dogs prove it with their actions. They don't need words to express how much they absolutely adore you and love you. Their eyes show you the depth of their love for you. No matter what happens they will never stop loving you and they will always love you more than you can imagine.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
