One of the most common asked questions of dog owners is, "is that hair all over you?" And the most common answer to that question is, "Yes, I have a dog." Our canine companions mean the world to us... even when they shed non-stop. My own dog, Maya, is a German Shorthaired Pointer mix and while she is the sweetest, most adorable dog on this planet...
She sheds.
A lot.
But I love her anyway.
From the tiniest of Yorkies, to the largest of Great Danes, we love all dogs, tall and small. They exercise with us, cuddle with us, defend us, and sleep with us. There's no better partner in crime than a dog. While they may shed incessantly and their hair gets on literally everything, there's nothing we wouldn't do for them.
If you're lucky and have found a dog breed to love that doesn't shed their hair, then congrats! You don't have to worry about cleaning to remove said hair. But if you're like me and you've found that your perfect canine companion does shed, then here's a list that you may agree with.
1. There's hair. Everywhere. All the time.
It's on your body, on your clothes, on your bed, and on your furniture. There's no stopping it. A hair-pocalypse, if you will.
2. You use blankets or towels for your dog to lay on.
Have you ever tried to get dog hair off of furniture? It's really hard. You either try to use your hands to brush it off or vacuum it, and neither work very well.
3. When you're petting your dog, you get handfuls of hair.
Even if you're just going for a quick pat on the head, the hair just keeps coming.
4. You're constantly having to vacuum the house.
FYI, buy yourself a good vacuum.
5. Sometimes you just wish you could vacuum your dog.
It would be so much easier if we could just vacuum our dogs straight from the source, but that's not practical.
6. Giving them a bath just makes it worse.
Now the hair is all over the bathtub and sticks more because it's wet.
7. You have a drawer full of lint rollers.
This is especially important when you have an important meeting or event to go to and you have hair on you...again.
8. You find it almost impossible to wear the color black.
Black is the worst color you can wear, especially when you have a dog that sheds a light color...like white.
9. You've experienced the pain of getting their hair in your eye.
Your eye burns as you try and get out that gosh darn piece of hair before you think you'll go blind.
10. You still find hair even after you've dusted, cleaned, and vacuumed the entire house.
No matter how many times you've cleaned and think you got every last hair, you still find more.
11. When you have a friend visit and they begin to sneeze.
Do you dare ask if they're allergic? If they say yes, then you obviously can't keep them. Friends come and go, but dogs are forever!
