Cats deserve all the love.

When Will Dog People Be Nice To Cats?

It’s the oldest “this or that” in history and it’s virtually impossible to come to a definite answer: cats or dogs? There are people who are adamantly pro-dog and people who are just as adamantly pro-cat, but when will we ever reveal the true superior pet? Never, probably, because there isn’t one. But as someone who has always been very pro-cat, I’m here to defend the cats against angry dog people once and for all.

I grew up with cats much longer than I grew up with dogs so, while I love both animals, I do have a preference for cats. In the time I’ve been an avid cat-lover, dog-lovers around me love to point out how awful cats are. The hatred and disgust that permeates the air around so many dog-lovers is part of why I stick beside my feline friends. Tumblr did a great job of describing the difference between cat people and dog people.

Chill. Cats are just trying to have a good time. After all, they spend two thirds of their lives sleeping. Talk about living the dream.

The only problem with both sides is half of the reasons people are pro-dog are the same reasons people don’t like dogs and half of the reasons people are pro-cat are the same reasons people don’t like cats. Dog people love that dogs always want to see you and play and thrive on your attention. They love the interaction dogs require. Cat people love that cats are independent animals who give you attention when you want it but will leave you alone the rest of the time. They love the simplicity of cats. So while you think my cat is a jerk for not wanting to hang out with you, I think it’s perfectly acceptable because I’m the one who invited you over, not the cat. Besides, he's probably busy living that dream of sleeping for however long he wants.

Another thing I’ve noticed about nearly every dog person is that none of them have ever owned a cat. Dogs love everyone. Getting affection from a dog is a great feeling because they’ll always love you, no matter who you are. They love the bus driver, the lady at the supermarket, the neighbor, but people who have never owned a cat don’t understand the immense satisfaction that comes with earning a cat’s affection. You have to work for that cat’s love. It doesn’t give it’s adoration to just anyone, so when that cat sits on your lap or cuddles against your arm, it’s the most rewarding feeling in the world. You did something right in that cat’s eyes and now their love is unconditional.

When it comes to the cat vs. dog argument, there are so many valid points to each side. In the end, the real winner depends on the owner. The reason you hate cats is the same reason I love cats and vice versa. Both animals are wonderful when they’re with the right owner.

But dog people, it's time to stop being mean to cats. They're adorable and fluffy and awkward and we just want to have a good time. While you're busy telling us how awful our cats are, your dog doesn't care because even they know cats are wonderful at cuddling.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

Obsessive Thoughts Keep My Brain Stuck On A Loop And Me Stuck On My Couch

Sometimes my brain just starts turning on an idea and it doesn't want to stop.

I don't know if it is related to my anxiety, perfectionism or depression. I don't know why it happens. It's frustrating, it's painful and it stops me from functioning.

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.
