I don't think I have ever seen unconditional love between humans. Is it possible to love someone with no limitations or boundaries? I asked myself if I have ever seen unconditional love. And then I was wondering if others have seen it. I was surprised by the number of people who told me they have never witnessed unconditional love.
The only time I have ever seen love like this is in my parents when I was young. I remember whenever my mom would get mad my dad would smother her and not stop hugging her until she laughed and smiled and the anger disappeared. My dad would not get mad or even frown he would just love her till she was happy. No limits.
One person who explained to me that the little things her boyfriend does shows her that he loves her unconditionally. Like helping her with her writing when he does not have time or him staying up for 24 hours straight just to drive to her on their anniversary.
When I asked my professor about unconditional love, she explained how she does not believe humans can love unconditionally at all times. She believes she has only witnessed it in dogs. Babies at some point in their childhood realize that their parents will not always be there for them, not love them unconditionally. But dogs are always there for their owner. Greeting them when they walk in after being gone for only an hour. Dogs are always happy and loving toward their owners. Dogs are completely reliant on their owner which fosters unconditional love.
So, does unconditional love exist in the human world?
