My Thoughts On Manifestation

What is manifesting, and does it actually work?

My Thoughts On Manifestation

I'm sure you all remember that period of time on Twitter when everyone would tweet about something that they wanted to happen, followed by the phrase, "Speaking it into existence." Manifestation is basically the same thing as that. It's a way of convincing yourself that something will happen in your favor and best interest. Recently, the act of manifesting has become a trend on Twitter as well as TikTok. There was even a meme showing a YouTube video titled, "How to appear in people's dreams." Many jokes surrounding manifestation treat the act almost like a voodoo doll: if someone wrongs them, they manifest something bad happening. But how far can manifestation go? And what does it actually do? Does it ever fail? Is it even real?

The short answer would be yes. Manifestation is real. However, I believe its validity is situational. If you manifest the guy you're flirting with to Snapchat or text you back and he does, I think that's coincidental (no I don't it's real and it works). Kidding! In all seriousness, I do believe that manifesting a situation works as long as you have control over it. For example, if you manifest getting good grades for the upcoming school year and put yourself in the right mindset to do so, it'll most likely happen. You'll take your classes seriously, you'll study for tests and quizzes, and you won't miss homework assignments. That is an aspect of your life that you have total control over. But if you simply manifest getting good grades without actually doing the work, of course it's not going to happen for you. Another example of manifestation failing would be a situation where you lack control. If you manifest becoming famous out of nowhere or for One Direction to get back together and give you VIP passes to their reunion tour, that obviously won't happen. The situation has to be realistic as well as attainable.

This is not to say that I don't believe in fate or higher power, because I totally do. I believe in signs from the afterlife like cardinals being signs from loved ones that have passed away. Every time something good happens to me, I think it's my passed family looking out for me. This ties into manifestation in a sense that some people believe it is connected to the spirit world. This would moreso apply to the random chance manifestation, like convincing yourself that the guy you like will dump his current girlfriend for you. This could happen, and it could be fate or a sign from above, but 9 times out of 10 it's purely random chance.

I'm an advocate for manifestation, but don't get your hopes up for something completely random. Use manifestation to better yourself and put yourself in a mindset to make good things happen! It's not a trend, it's a change of lifestyle. Try it out for yourself.

Dear High School Friend Group,

My sweet angels, where would I be without you guys. We all grew up together because we either met in middle school or high school and watched each other grow up and get "old." We got to go to prom together and then graduate together. Then watched each other as we continued our lives in college, joining sororities and meeting people who will impact our lives forever. It all has happened so fast.

Oh college, we can’t live with you, but we can’t live without you. It’s a love/hate relationship, really. College is an experience that no one can ever prepare you for, and maybe that’s a good thing. You never really expect any of the things that college encompasses until you are there. College is fun, but don’t have too much fun. C’s get degrees, but they don’t get you into graduate school.

Blair Waldorf

The "Gossip Girl" series may be over, but Blair Waldorf's iconic character lives in our hearts forever. Blair was the queen of the Upper East Side, and a character you either loved or hated. She taught us everything we needed to know about life, love and of course, how to score a Chuck Bass. So the next time you feel a bit lost and are in need of guidance, look no further than to the Queen B herself.

As I spend my Sunday avoiding my homework and other adult responsibilities, I realized that I've watched this series over and over about a million times. Sadly, there isn't a Blair quote I don't know, so I came up with a list of a few favorites. You know you love her...xoxo

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.
